While at the track don't think ab it to much, just do your thing and relax! Trying too hard won't result in a faster time. Like the guy saif on the waterboy "YOU CAN DOO IT!"

Yo Douglas Home.....

Here is a video of Erica launching the bike that may help you kinda visualize what your launches need to look like. This launch was a bit on the weak side.

She is still working on being able to launch the bike a bit better which is the real key to getting any overall good ET. Another key to getting a good race is your reaction time.... watch the tree and compare her reaction to when the green light comes on, she kills'em on the tree!

You are gonna have to get your 60ft. times in the 1.5's to see 9.5's - 9.7's.

In the video, she launched the bike at about 6500 rpm and held the clutch way too long and actually hit the rev limiter... you can hear the engine bouncing off the rev limiter as she pulls away.

Hmmmm, I wonder who gone quick at stock w/b , stock height and strapped.

I pulled off a 9.83 @ 145.5 ONCE. Just once. I've gone 9.89 a couple of times and a bunch of 9.90's.

You times are respectable for sure.

The best we've seen out of my daughter's stock wheelbased 2008 ZX14 is as follows...

Best 60ft. = 1.57
Best 1/4 = 9.57
Best mph = 146.1

A few things you can do to get a little quicker are...
Swap the O-ring chain for a non-O-ring unit
Get a slightly longer chain
Remove the metal screening from the air filter or get an aftermarket unit
Lower the bike a bit more
Add HD clutch springs and spacers too
Cut your seat down just a little or purchase a lower seat.

Erica is 16 yrs. old and weighs in at a heafty 135lbs. geared-up which is the reason for the good ET's.

The bike is strapped and lowered via Brock's Links set on the lowest setting, Brock's HD Clutch Springs and a Catalyst Drag Step Seat. We have yet to replace the stock exhaust and plan to do so but we want to see how quick the bike can be in stock trim.

We feel that the bike can possibly run a 9.4XX but she still need some seat time as she's only been racing since May of this year.

Based on your description, you should be capable of running a 9.6 or so if you can get into the trottle ASAP.

Where are you guys running at. at 135 lbs I'm really surprised she don't go 152 or better.

My 09 went 9.62 with just a strap and lowered ..Only tried it one time ... Added a pipe and went 9.32 .Everything else stock....Only tried that once also ..

My 06 went 9.18 @ 152 with a 1.51 60 foot ... That had Smeg and Brocks street map , strapped and lowered ... Everything else was stock , stock gears , stock air filter , flys in place and even the stock tire .. That 9.18 took a few trys to get it ..

We're located in South Louisiana.....

There are a few things holding her back.... experience being the main one.
1) She's only been Drag Racing since May 2009
2) The bike still has the stock exhaust, tire, tune, air filter and pretty much everything else for that matter.
3) Bad weather here in the Deep South hurts us all. Can't wait till November / December rolls around as her ET's & MPH should improve greatly and by then she'll have a bit more seat time under her belt.

We've yet to see another completely stock ZX14 (only Lowered) run a 9.57 at 146.1 mph. Rickey Gadson and those other Pro AMA Super Sport Racers are running 9.0's and only seeing 154 mph, so I don't expect to see her hit these numbers until we put on an exhaust, programmer and the other goodies allowed by the AMA SuperSport Rules.
