i have an 06 14 and i have been reading this thread since it started im very interested in giving e 85 a try im running brocks exhaust on my bike and the mapping is pretty much spot on, since 85 requires about 30 % more fuel does that mean i can take a map that i have now and add 30 to each cell thanks

Roy, could you recap what fuel pressure you are running on the stock motor bike, with the E85, and at what a/f and duty cycle? I am very close to making this switch, at least to test it out at the dragstrip.
MR9 is just getting too expensive for me.
Thanks.

Shane if i remember correctly Roy stock zx14 was running stock fuel pressure ..We put the bike on the dyno with pump gas first and made some pulls .. We dumped the fuel and added the E85 and installed a map that he had made earlier.. It was about 40% more fuel than the pump gas map ... It was very rich at 40% so we leaned it down about 12% on the top ( 6000 up at 100% throttle ) Don't hold me to numbers because i could be off a bit ... Anyway Roy has the map and i'm sure he will let you try it ... Only mods to Roys bike were a pair of slip ons .. I think we started at 163 HP with the pump gas and ended up with 168 or 169 after tunning ? It was still a bit rich if i remember right .. Somewhere around 12.6 to 12.8 ..

I'll be trying e85 the next time out as long as my setup doesn't change. I want to run at the track with gasoline, and then switch to e85 with nothing else changing. If my mph goes up, I'll continue to use it, if not.......

Do you have an E85 map ?? Don't run that E85 on a pump gas map !!!!

i would be careful ,,, you know how conductive E85 is ... Everytime i start it up I am scared that it will blow the tank off the bike.
I have no clue on duty cycle .... but there was a post earlier that a bike making 190hp was at 95%. the stocker was only 168hp.
you can find 550 cc injectors pretty cheap now.

After running E85 on the street bike for a year now ,I am moving the PCV to the race bike and putting away the alcohol. I have put 5k miles on the stock street bike over the last year with no issues at all. The only draw back was the 120 mile per tank range. I have had no issues letting the bike sit for a month or two when I was out of town . The fuel always looked clear. I have left E85 in a sealed jug for months with no issues. It is easy to see when the fuel is contaminated by water ... it is very cloudy .
The race bike is stil running E85 and nitrous and has gone a full year with no issues. I will be doing a teardown this winter and maybe adding a ported head and cams to it this time. I cannot complain at all,,, a year of torture and it is still fast enough to set a land speed record and knock off the fastest run I have ever made last week .

I dont know why you would say that ... on gas I was getting 35 mpg, with e85 needing 35% more fuel that would bring it to 23 mpg, with 5 gallons that would be 115 miles... the math and the measured results are close enough.
maybe you were too lean ?

it was lean but it ran fine, i had it set at around 16.2 on the wideband cruising around and when i got in to boost it would go to 11.5-11.8, I used to run it 14.1-14.2 riding around but the bike would never heat up so i took some fuel out of it and it would run perfect and get 30-35MPG
maybe you were to rich?

rich is safe ...but it was only 12:1 and seeing 10.5:1 wouldn't bother me with E85... Still has the same plugs in it.
