Most any bike, or car for that matter, can break the speed limit. I usually don't speed, but when I do I'm very happy that I'm on a 14.

Yes of course it's worth it. I didn't buy it to go flat out on the highway, I bought it for top speed competitions.

Anyone answering "No" please tell us what you ride/drive and why you aren't trundling around in an electric cart.

If you are going to obey speed limit laws, is it really worth it to have any modern sportbike - including a 600?

I just got back from MotoGP in Indianapolis. I rode the 14 from Chicago to Indy and back. The bike ran like a dream. I took my '05 Gix 1000 there a couple years ago for a drag racing event and the difference between the two bikes is night and day! The 14 was actually roomy! I never felt like I was balled-up or crumpled onto the seat.

To me the ZX-14 is a sport-touring machine that's leaning more toward performance than anything else. It does everything really well - don't sell it short as merely a point and shoot land missile (although it does that really well too).

I said no. I doubt if I have ever taken it out and not busted limit multiple times, I bought it strictly to ride fast, no other reason. I rarely ride that I don't get well into triple digits numerous times. I usually don't even look at the limit signs unless I'm in a town. You've got a bike that will break any speed limit in first gear. If I were going to commute at or under speed limits I would buy a cruiser or a scooter. Riding a 14 like an old fart makes no sense to me, why would I??

Bikes are like Breasts. Two large breasts are just as functional as two small breasts. The only difference is with large breasts- you get all the looks and admirers--

And you know they can get you laid faster... if that's what you want to do.

NO if you only ride arround a tight city,it's overkill !!
YES if you love low end tork , ride in the coutry, live in the western united states, live in a large urban area , YES every time I take it out try to get trippel dig, sevreal wheely's, maybe a dirt road, zx14's will climb up a damn steep jeep trail to boot, out of 23 motorcycles,it's my favriot, traded a zrx1200 and tl1000 for it and was well worth it !
That is why this site is so interisting , people modifying, a bike with so much power in the first place, ya think they would find time to use what it came with, and people here beat the shit out of those 14's , so ya allready know it's one hell of a bike!!
zx14's work very well on really rough backroads, like rideing motocross at speed !!

Yes, You can have this bike and obey the speed limit... The look and nostalgia have captured some hearts and that's good enough. I like to compare it to a Lamborghini or Ferrari owner, how many times do you see them breaking the speed limit( in actuality, not TV)? Most of the times when I see those vehicles, the owners are just cruising, enjoying, and respecting the beast. Just because you have the power doesn't mean you have to abuse it.... You still own it!! I still believe that most motorcyclist that owns Big Bore bikes run the sh*t out of them, reviving them at a stand still until the motor spits back in the exhaust. This is why I will only purchase my bike new.... That way I know what I'm getting and can keep my since of quality and integrity!!! I'm amazed when I see some post their bikes in the classified/ebay as "pampered miles". Yeah, Right!!

A ninja 250 can is capable of getting a speeding ticket on the freeway but isn't very capable of enough power to accelerate away from a dangerous situation making less powerful bike in this aspect more unsafe.
