I took mine completely out. Really easy to take out. one bolt on top, one on bottom.
I don't know if its the "correct" way but I put bike on front and rear stands and put a jack under the rear of the oil pan and jacked until the pressure was off the bolts holding the shock in.
Take one of your lowering links off and the shock falls right out
The last time I done it I had a set of spring compressors and compressed the spring with them and then tapped the nuts at top of spring and tightened it until there were ab 3 threads left. Took spring compressors off and tada! Put shock back in. I think it really helped the bike launching bc I lowered it quite a bit more and dosent scrub the undertail.

I recently picked up a 09' Busa spring, I don't think I'll have a problem taking the shock off the bike but was have been wondering how to get the stock spring off the shock. Any directions would be appreciated.

There's a round piece at the bottom of the shock that the bottom of the spring sets on. You have to get the pressure off the piece (only way I see is compress the spring) and it has a slit in it. Take it off and exchange springs. wheelie has done it before, maybe he will chime in and help more than I did

Check out Race Tech. I use the one that bolts to the eye on the shock, with the long lever arm to compress the spring. Works well in the vice. I never worked with a BUSA shock. I'm assuming the you can't fully loosen the spring on that one to slide the collar out like the 14. Hope looking at the Race Tech compressor gives some insight. Also I've seen somewhere that someone made one with all thread rods and some plate. A smaller set like the automotive ones would be nice. If someone has found some hopefully they post where to get get them.
