Flies out finally!!!
My PCIII came today so I thought I would pull the flies to see what all the hype is about. Bike is an '07. Had 2 screws that would not come out but did not panic and searched the archives. Found a tip about a long needle nose with a bent end. Worked awesome!!! Put everything back together and took her for a ride. Holy Mother that is incredible Still don't have the PCIII installed but I filled out my Brocks form and hopefully the map is emailed in a few days.
Between this and the suspension adjustments today this is a TOTALLY different bike. Thanks guys for all useful info you put on this site for us noobs.

I have the TRE-008 in my bike now because when trying to remove my flies I had zero success. I am going to try again your post made me wanna get them pesky flies out. Will I nottice a difference over the TRE-008?

The flies were the 1st mod I did when I got my bike back in august of 06. I've had a permenant grin ever since!
I actually have a flies collection from all the 14's that ever came into my shop. I thought it was funny how every 14 that came in had flies but left without lol!

The tre gives you about half the effect of pulling the flies on an 06-07, so be prepared for twice what you feel now with the tre.Its well worth it to heat the screws up very well with a soldering iron and pull those flies

Newf14- If you try and get a Klien screw driver(#2- 9inch, I believe), those screws will come out with a small effort. I would recommend riding the bike for about 20-30 minutes, put it on jack stands, remove some of the fairing(see instructions), lift gas tank cover, and proceed to the secondary throttle bodies. The total job took me about 45-60 minutes. I wanted to make sure I retained my steps and where the different size screws were located on the fairings etc...

SupermanT is absolutely right. Using the correct tool is crucial for a job like this.
I bought a new Phillips PH #2 x 250mm (DIN 5262). It worked just fine on a cold engine and all the screws came out without drama. You have to use some downward pressure to make sure it stays properly engaged in the screw head and turn it with care for the first quarter turn.

I had my son hold the plates from moving when I removed mine: made it alot easier! Until the last one at least: nothing for him to grab! Definitely use a BRAND NEW screw driver for this job: its critical and prbably the best $10-$15 you'll ever spend (most expensive #2 screwdriver I could find at the Home Depot, they dont carry klein).

I agree totally but if you do strip one, that long nose bent pliers will get them out extremely easy no matter how hard they are stuck.

Take an old screwdriver and heat it up cherry red. Press it on to the screw for 10 - 15 seconds. Then go to the good screwdriver and press down firmly and give it a quick turn. They will loosen with a snap and come out easily every time. Kawi uses threadlocker on them so the heat makes that a non issue.

My screws came out without drama. I saved all the parts, no idea why.
