Been running Rotella 15w40 for 2 years no clutch slipping here, even hot lapping it this weekend.
No slipping consistant launches at 5500rpm
I have a nice $500 check for winning the 950 superstock class Saturday too!
.
Good deal, glad someone here is winning! Also glad you posted. Rotella 15w40 is the Shell formula High in the contents needed for harder running engines and A lot of people seem to get excellent clutch grab also.

KLD I believe the 5w40 you used is for 07 & newer vehicles. If that's what I'm thinking of, the EPA mandated a whole lot less of all the good stuff in that one. the 15w40 above is where everyone is getting good results. On the shelf at walmart for a good price.

The 15/40 is the white bottle and its not synthetic. The 5/40 is the blue bottle and it IS synthetic.

agree'd. Run nothing but the White Bottle Rotella 15w40 in my bike as well. Clutch works good, mid 1.4 60' and hot lapping not an issue.

it was an all zx14 win day on saturday for 10.5 mine, 9.50 yours, and 8.90 steve adams!

I have around 500 passes using the Rotella synthetic. Until I can prove that my clutch slips with it, I will continue to use it as it is a good oil.

Same here. I burnt a clutch up using kawi oil in 45 passes, and ever since I've used rotella syn, NO problems. Cam chain tensioner is louder on my 08 14 vs the 06, but its for a full 3/4 of a second...

I have a friends 14 in the garage right now that has the most fried clutch I have ever seen with Kawasaki oil. Only about 35-50 passes. The fibers were literally burned black crispy. Every steel was warped and seized on the hub. It has Rotella now.

Hey kawasakijockey, Do you have clutch spring spacers?? or heavy duty clutch springs??
Are you using the rotella 5w-40 which is the CJ-4 which meets JASC) specs??

I had run the Schnitz heavy springs up until 80 passes ago and went with light springs and a lockup. So for a solid year, yes, heavy springs. It is the 5w-40 synth. which is CJ-4, CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF/SM. I dont know what all of that means but I need to look it up. It is the blue jug at Walmart for 19 bucks.

"50 weight oil might be to heavy no matter what brand. You may have better results with a 40 weight for better cold flow on initial crank up. Are you running a turbo or some type of power adder that would require 20w50?"

AcadianaZX no turbo, just thought the 50 weight would be better for summer use since the 14 already runs hot.

thats not what chris jones said .. thin oils blow out of all kinds of gaps in a zx14 motor to lose pressure .. or something to that effect ..

So are you saying that 5/30 is too light?

i like lite oils . but reading a thread here i read that chris found the oil pump housing and other parts to leak inside the motor to cause less oil pressure than thicker oils .
