What Mods improve 1/8 and/or 1/4 mile ZX14 E/Ts

What Mods improve 1/8 and/or 1/4 mile ZX14 E/Ts

Please include:

E/T improvement per mod,

This is by no means a scientific study, just trying to compile a list of what works and how well.
(If anyone disagrees with anyone’s estimates please explain why.)

Here are some things that I have heard that may work:
.10 for every inch lower and .10 per inch longer (if you are able to apply the extra power these mods allow.)
.10 for each 25-30 unsprung lb. reduced.
1 mph for 3lbs of rear tire pressure increase (without spinning of course.)
.15 using fresh mr9 over pump gas.

What do you guys think of these, and what other E/T lowering mods or tricks do you know?

2 tenths for the rider with bigger NUTS. It's 90 percent all rider, dont matter what you have on the bike !!!! Just my humble opinion....

I would say that .10 for each inch of wheelbase is reasonably possible. But I am not sure about the .10 for each inch lower?

I have not seen 1 mph for 3 psi of tire pressure, and I just ran 152 mph in the heat yesterday with 19 psi hot in the rear tire. On another day, I did not see any change in mph with a 4 psi increase.

My personal experience with the MR9 suggests about .10, but it probably depends on how good your mapping is.

My current setup lost me about .8 second compared to completely stock. I think I could probably lose another 1.0 second or so by having Smokin be the rider. That could get rather costly, however.

I don't think you can put a number on each mod like that, because used in different combo's example: just lowered might give you .1 (not reallife numbers) and stretching may give you .3 but a stretched and lowered bike may give you .6 seconds... So my opinion is you have topo many variables.

Taking power to weight into consideration(200lb rider/ 520lb bike) spraying second gear from 7000 rpm to 10500rpm stockmotor , how many rearwheel HP do you think it would take to drop .10 1/8 and or 1/4.

Yeah I do.
I am just Tring to find out and share with members what works a how well. It is a given fact that if you don't know how to apply the mod to bike (seat time!) It is useless. I am tring to get a general idea of tested mods effectiveness.

By the way, what did 16/48 at 64"wb do for you v/s other gears you have tried? The fact that you are still stock clutch ,spring, and average weight would be very useful info.

Rotating weight helps too....lighter tires...lighter wheels....removing one front rotor.

Getting tucked in helps aerodynamics too which also helps some. Removing the mirrors reduced drag, as well as wearing tightly fitted jackets and pants instead of bulky jackets and pants that could flap in the wind and create drag.

Biggest increase I saw was losing body weight. Never excercised, just eating smaller portions, and no soft drinks, not even diet drinks. Lost 20 lbs in the process over a few months last year.

I'm gonna go with the seat time. Your 60' will make or break the pass. I always heard a tenth in the 60' is worth about 2 tenths in the 1/4 and it seems pretty accurate.

Get your right elbow up and when you leave slam that throttle open and feed the clutch. When you get comfortable enough to get really aggressive with it, you will see alot of improvement in the 60' and 330'

It's all in the wrist, imo. If you you can't cock your wrist far forward enough to easily get wfo, I guess it makes sense. But I see a lot of guys with the elbow up, and when they launch you would need a magnifying glass to see the throttle move!

Think about the physics of it...how fast can you twist your wrist vs. move your whole arm??
