Looking for tires?
Looking for a new rear tire hopefully something that'l last longer than 2500 miles...............mostly street riding with the occasional trip to the dragstrip............any recommendations on brand as well as where to buy for a good price?

i use michelin pilot road 2 for a couples of years now on my zx14 and wife vfr 800 they last as long as 10000 miles on touring mode(no drag racing and relatively smooth on the throttle)most of my riding is touring around 75 80 MPH.i like the handling of these tire compared of the OEM.

+1 on the road 2's also the new dunlop street smarts. I have 4k plus on them with a trip to the draggen and back from NJ.

I wore out the stock BT014's by 3500 miles. I now run Bridgestone BT021's and I think they are great. 1400 miles now and they still have the little nubbies so Im hoping I get 7 to 10k out of them. Heres a great deal if your looking:

Any opinions on whether Pirelli Strada or Michellin Road 2 would work for the occasional dragstrip pass or will it not hook up at all...............also anyone know how either of these tires would compare in hook up to the stock tires?

Neither is built for drags. Harder compound in center. Both are sport/TOURING tires. I've got over 5,000 miles on my RoadSmarts.The Strada isnt nearly as good as the Dunlop. Havent tried a Michelin yet, but have yet to find anyone who dislikes them.
You arent gonna get any life out of a rear dragging, come on!!

How do you guys like BTO 16's. Are they a good all around tire?

I know that, i'm not an idiot............my question though is will either of the above mentioned tires work at all for the OCCASIONAL dragstrip pass if you lower the tire pressure, or will it just blow away the tire and just spin to where you CANT go to the dragstrip at all thats what I want to know?

I ride with the Abilene Hot Bike Assc. and there is about 5 to 6 that run the Full Bore on the back of the bike it's cheap 110.00 per tire shipped to your door. These guys burn 40 mph corners at 140 and the tire sticks well. I have ordered one myself to try out. they ride hard and do burn outs etc. and say they last the best for the amount of abuse they put on the tire.
My business partner has just got his put on his zx-12 with a 9 inch stretch and he said it hooks up real well compared to the battle axe tire he had on there.

I run the full bore. Its not a comparable tire to the batalax. Imho those guys doin 140 on a curve with the full bore aren't the brightest people. The shape of my tire from day one is flat like a shinko, not rounded like the batalax or a pilot. I've got 1,100 miles and maybe 50 passes out of mine. I'm hoping it will last til at least the end of oct.

too bad they don't last long if you push them. At stock wheelbase, I run a shinko 003 soft and get about 3-3500 out of them. I also had really good luck out of my Tomahawk t-3's when I was running them.
BTW...
Does anyone know where to buy Shinko 008 slicks pre-grooved to look like a street tire, and how much they cost?
