if you do two corners opposite of each other it will show half the speed. 140 will show 70. most people are just doing one corner. I did 2 corners opposite of each other.

I did 2 opposite each other, with a 17/43 gearing , the KPH is really close.

Picture's of this would be swell as well as what a stock geared bike would achieve with this mod.

With a stock bike, 17/42 should give you about all the top end you can muster (even with a bit of a tailwind). 16/41 would be a good choice also, allowing you to run more than 186 mph. In either case, rider aero's and the lackluster hp at high rpm (when bone stock) are going to limit you.

I don't know man...I don't have a bone stock bike. But the gearing will allow somewhere around 196 mph...the rest is up to your engine, and you.

Its part of the front sprocket nut, take off the front sprocket cover and you'll see it, it has 4 corners on it.

I shaved mine with it still on the bike with a small dremel. The shavings will magnetize to everything, but I cleaned it all up after with no problems.

Intrigued.. Any photos of this nut? Maybe I should take back my yellow box..
What's the benefit and what does it look like once it shaved?
Come to think about it I didn't really think my nut was bushy enough to be shaped..
I crack myself up... But for real I am interested in this.

Halvefast posted this on another site.....
Here is what you need to do to by-pass the 186mph limiter.
(Dis-claimer, this will lower you speedometer by 25%)
However we all know these read high already, so what's the harm.
Especially if you gear it down any, it reads much higher, so this will help bring it back in line anyway.
I noticed with this mod, and 16-43 gearing my speedo was spot on!
1) remove the contershaft sprocket cover, (5) 6mm bolts with 8mm heads
(DO NOT touch clutch lever while cover is removed,
this will push slave cylinder out and create headaches you don't need)
2) bend tabs back flat on sprocket nut lock, remove countershaft sprocket nut.
(Some are a real b#tch, others not so bad)
3) There are 4 corners on the outermost end of the nut, not the 6 sided part to remove it.
Grind down one of the corners similar to the one pictured. (See pic below)
You need to make a smooth radius close to same width as where the corner doesn't exist.
4) Re-install when finished, make sure to bend tabs back down on lock,
and careful not to pinch any wires with sprocket cover.
Check clutch operation is normal afterwards, before test ride.
Before you speedo should read 80mph @ 4,000rpm in 6th gear
afterwards speedo should read 60mph @ 4,000rpm in 6th gear!
So at what would have been 200mph on the speedo is now 150mph
I believe a replacement nut is only around $12-15 bucks if you don't like it.

173 mph is the fastest i'v done soo far with the gps on my bike. speedo was reading 192-193 mph. i'm going to grind down the corner or 2 corners on my resrictor nut and see what the gps reads.
