Gearing advice.

Im ordering a chain and sprocket set today off ebay. (Ebay ID Item number: 220460737604) I think i want to pick up a bit of acceleration, What gearing should i go with? I want to make the smallest change towards acceleration I can do, So like one or two more in the back then? How much more chain will i need?

And has anyone used the EK no tool chain link? They have it for $20 and i would like to get it to safe the headache of finding a shop or tool to use the rivit style one.

Thanks,
Yes you have to play around with it a bit, but it has very accurrate info for our bike.

remember the top speed is dramatically different if the speed limiter is removed, the bike will rev out to 10,600 RPM limiter (actual not tach reading) compared to 9250 with the speed limiter( actual not tach reading)

Unless you make a minimum change of 2-3 teeth in the back or 1 tooth up front, you won't notice much change

Also a speedo healer will overcome the loss of top speed easily.

stock is 120, but I think that will be tight with a new chain and 17-43, so 122-124? i think?
Maybe someone else has 1st hand experience.
You could do 16-41 with stock 120 chain no problem, if you don't like the gear, frt sprokets are way cheap and the stock 17 will still fit with 120 links...

If you get an RK chain rivet tool for~ $100, it is a good investment to keep forever.
You can rivet, press and cut for a lifetime with it......
The cheap ones are a waste of money, the pins break.

Thanks dubious, I found a local shop to install the rivit link for 17.50 on my bike in the back of my truck. So im just going to go that route this time and save some cash. And for the record I just counted the links in the stock chain, There is 116 of them. The chain in my kit is a 120 link, so i should be good then. The front sprocket cover looks tricky, is it that bad to remove?

No, its easy to remove.
Look at the parts fiche stickied in the orum here, it shows which clutch slave bolt must be removed.

The countershaft nut will be the most difficult part.
heat the nut, and hit it hard. I got a buddy to stand on th rear brake in gear, and the tire still turned!

Sorry bro. stock is 116 links and add 2 for new 17/43 (OEM Steel front) and a steel (Driven ) 43 rear with 118 links will locate the rear wheel at the rear of the swing arm.

A stock (stretched ) 5000 miles will let you have 17/43 and rear axle is at front of swing arm.

A 120 link is EKZZ "stock" length we had to remove 2 links to install new chain and new
17/43 sprockets. Good thng this chain does not stretched much as you have very little
room for adj but it is OK. And is working find on friends 2006 14..Yoush man :-) Lurker :-)
