Set a new land speed record
My ZX14 set a new Land Seed Record in Loring , Maine this past weekend . I ran in a naked class and wenr 202.82 mph. on motor. the class I ran in was Modified Gas 1650-4 (MG 1650-4). As far as I can tell that is the faster naturally aspirated naked run anywhere
the record at bonneville was 195.2 and maxton was 200.06. .
My bike is now a 1530 cc since the meltdown last year forced me to rebuild. I did not have time to port the head or the money to buy new cams so they are still stock. I am really happy with the motor so far. It is running faster on motor than it did with the stock engine and nitrous. No more changing bottles or melting down parte :-)

Great run wrongway. Conditions were unbelievable. However I think you were looking in the record books the "wrongway" as my bikes hold the records at Bonneville 203.4 (set 6 years ago) and at Maxton 206.88. LSL

Avatar is a modified Busa. My streetbike is a ZX14 and I wouldn't trade it for any Busa, I love it. The Busa is more developed for power and speed being ten years old. The ZX14 is strong as an ox; it takes well to turbos and nitrous. Give it time. LSL

shit , now i gotta find 4 more mph :-)
I looked at 1350 and 1650 cc records, but I didnt go to the 2000 c class at SCTA or the 3000 cc clas at ECTA
So I do have the fastest 1650 cc class record , but not the fastest naked record :-(

Sort of. All our Maxton records were set with a 1650cc class engine. That was the Red Busa that went 237.7 MPH on motor at Loring. LSL

Nice! So is there any truth that going over 200 MPH is equal to having a climax at 37,000 feet (The 7 Mile Club)?
(well, yes, almost.)

Hey LSL did you run the Busa without a fuel tank?
It looks that way from the pictures on the naked site.
Also at Loring did you have to make a run in both directions to cancel out the wind factor within an hour to set a world record like in Bonneville or is that only in certain classes?
I would love to attempt a 200 MPH pass on my bike.
Something to shoot for next year.
Way to go guys!

WindSwordNinja; Good questions. One of our Busas has carburetors and uses a small quart fuel cell (Under Steve Knecum on the site) The others use a lowered tank or a fabbed small 2 gal tank. The size of the tank determines the classification in Land Speed Racing. The paved courses are not suited for reverse running so they only require one run. As much as we all enjoy our unreal speeds they are in fact, unreal. Yes, the bikes went that fast but when we all return to Maxton and Texas in the Fall reality will return. Having said that, most who race are doing it for the pleasure of going fast. You went fast and that is all that matters.
Wrongway:You are now eligible for membership in the Naked 200 Club. It is run by Bill Warner who went 257 MPH on Sat. You can contact him through the site. You will have your own page with pics & info. Something special. Any questions I am happy to answer. LSL

Congrats, Roy!
And, yes, reality will return in the Fall. My stock motor bike, faired, went 211.97 mph. That also brought me a record in MPS/F-2000/4. I was very careful to read the class designation of the faster bikes around me. I will be excited to crest 195 mph when I return to Maxton. I guess I might have one of the fastest recorded runs ever on a stock motor ZX-14, at least in this country.
I have heard of great tailwinds in the UK "Flyers", and I wonder if these are the conditions they run under?

I found the conditions to be excellent all day. My first AM run was 205, and the next 209.97. After a sprocket change, in the afternoon, I ran two back-to-back 211 mph runs with "favorable conditions". Definitely a very fast track this past weekend,
I guess the big question is, how fast do you think your bike will go at Maxton? I'm interested to see; I am impressed that the 1534 held up so well! I keep seeing positive things from these ZX-14 strokers.
