Sounded like you only ran to 1000 feet...wassup with that?

Seriously though, if you want to run in any "street" drags, that tires is a no-no. Guys will get their panties in a bunch when you run a slick. Nevermind that the 003 with tread hooks up just as hard.

Also, that tire isn't allowed in Pro-street.
It's an 1/8 mile track Moron, 660 feet incase you didn't know ....First off i'm just posting my testing of the 008 slick ... If you don't like it don't funkin read it ..I'm using the tire for test and tune not some pro star class ...

I'm a little tried of posting my tests and getting crap over it ...So i'll tell you what , do you own funkin testing from now on ... .. Bunch of smart ass fucking assholes ..

Well you failed the sarcasm test.
Lee, when have I ever bashed anything you've done??? I appreciate you testing and was just poking fun at the old metric track joke. So, take it down a notch.....

what about telling members that a u-soft hooks as well as a slick? Smokin might disagree with you, I know I do.

I know it's cheating. But you can order them that have been grooved and they look just like a street tire. if you use a dirt track tire cutter you can put any tire brand tread you want on it yourself. they work great and last forever. I ride mine to work, test & tune, burnouts and it still gets good milage. We cut grooves similar to the dragtec tires in them.

Usually, the rules state: "D.O.T. approved", so that won't work.
I had this same battle years ago in Pro-street. I had a slick, and they(Dragbike USA) got kinda testy and said it wasn't DOT approved, and that I had to run a street tire...bla....bla....bla.

So, I got a Michelin road race tire, had some grooves cut in it, and thought I was good. Oh no, it wasn't DOT approved....crap...so I had to throw a fricking street tire on a NOS GSXR 1255, which was all of about retarded. NOS came in after second, and you can probably predict the rest.

As far as the DOT Shinko hooking as good as the slick; I haven't tried the Shinko slick, but have tried the Goodyear slick years ago. The DOT Shinko hooks hard, provided you run 12psi or less, do a long burnout, and hurry up too the light. It hooks good, and complies with the moronic rules set forth by some of the race organizers for "street" type bikes.

Personally, I think anything with 200hp and above, should only run slicks.

The new DOT Michelin Power One's can handle a low 1.30 60 foot from a Pro Street Bike making 550+ HorsePower going 7.27 @ 200 in the 1/4 mile.....

Do they take a long burn out to heat em up? Hoping to find a tire to last twice as long as to 003 u soft for street/strip.

Update : I tested the 008 shinko at the track sat night street race ...NO track prep !! NO VHT !! 320 front wheel drive cars ripping the track apart ... Not one race car with slicks going down the track ... There was so much dirt on the track it looked brown and not the normal black ..
The 008 shinko at 12 psi dead hooked !!! .. The guys with 003 shinko were spinning all the way down the track and it didn't matter what PSI they tried , nothing helped them ...Two bikes had power one tires and guess what ? They spun worst than the 003 shinkos ..

Thats all I used last year (008/190), when I actually made some passes, traction was never a problem @ 16-18 lbs. And If/when I get out again, it'll be on there again, I have two.

Street night .10:00 to 3:00 at night.. 10.00 bucks to race or watch ... ... No lights , NO VHT ,No water in the burnout box .. Just like the street ....Flag start or roll on racing, or whatever you wanted ..Owner didn't want to spend any money and he didn't !! It rained all that day so the pits were flooded, mud everywhere.. Now add 1500 kids in honda civics smokin pot and drinking .. Two of them drove right off the end of track into a ditch ...Others turned around at the end of the track drove back up the strip and not the return road .. It was a friggen mad house .. I will not be going to that ever again ..

I put a car tire on my bike ... it is D.O.T. approved ... is that legal :-)

the tire last for ever and has great traction .. it is just 15 lbs heavier :-(
