All forked up...

This one's for the drag racers. How far did you bring your tubes up through the trees
and why. The reason I'm asking is that I'm at 1.25 inches now but am seriously
considering dropping them back down to 1 inch. Mainly for oil pan clearance but I
believe this should aid in weight transfer also. Comments please...

MIne are only .5" up. I also have a 60 series front tire, bringing my total drop to 3/4". I strap it the rest of the way. The more you slide the forks up, the more likely you are to bust your oil pan. The bike will hit bottom well before the forks limit the travel of the suspension.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that mine are lowered internally as well.

I agree lowering them internally is a better way to go. I will probably do that over the
winter. Until then I will raise them up. How do the lowering blocks affect the function
of the forks in regards to travel ? And does a 1.25 block net a 1.25 drop in the fork.
Thanks...

The lowering blocks are OK, but you still really need a strap at the track. Your travel will be reduced by whatever amount your lower the forks, but they will bottom out at the same place.

I didn't install them, so that is all I can tell you.

I am strapped at the track. When it is cinched down I have 2 1/2 inches from my pan to
the ground and the front fender just rubs underneath the front of the nose. I have a
modified drain plug in and the tab machined down right now. There is an Adams pan
in my future. I am going to raise the forks up .25 for a little piece of mind (for the Maiden fans)
right now.
