THE ZX IS TOTALLED!!!!!!!
I had a very bad motorcycle accident last week. A car made a turn coming into my lane and I hit that car head on. I have some broken bones, road rash, and big ass bruises, Lucky to be alive. I got knocked out on impact of the road.
The 08'ZX frame broke in numerous spots, forks flapping in the breeze, engine has 2 big holes in it, swing arm bent, and really just to much to list. It's very bad to have to go through this, the recovery, and what my family has to go through also. I have a wife and 2 year old son. It could have been worse. I had some good safety equipment on, so I thank that to help saving my life.
To all of you riders out there, You may be a good rider, but it's the other idiot you have to watch out for. Money is no object when you are buying you helmet, and other riding safety apparel. I fully believe in this. Thanks for listening, it's hard being couped up in your house unable to do anything you want.

Glad you lived to tell the story and that you'll recover with no permanent damage. Bike can be replaced. I take it that the car making the turn was coming at you and turned left into your lane?

Thank God your alright man. I see these people riding with their girl friends on the back with halter tops flip flops and shorts and no helmets. I think to myself if they went down the road rash pain they would endure alone would be to much to take. I to believe in full armor when riding. I wear all the gear even when just test riding a bike i have just worked on !.....................Bill

BigBadZX14- Glad 2 hear that you are alive!!! Reminders of wearing protective gear is important especially during the summer heat. If you are up to it, get another bike after you heal. I will add a prayer for you and a speedy recovery...

BBZX14,
Glad you are okay! That's the important thing...you can always get another bike. Thank God you had your gear on. It's 103 here in Texas and it's tough wearing the gear in this hot weather but as I tell people if you go down ( I have ) you will live with the slight discomfort of the heat!
God Bless you and your family. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I am glad you are ok. Remember to stay positive and that the physical condition that you are in is only temporary. It will start to get to you in a month or so because your mind will be over your injuries but your body won't be. Not trying to get all psychological on you but I had a serious crash a few years back and I got really depressed. (its overwhelming)
GOOD LUCK on your road to recovery

Yeah the car was coming at me taking a left turn. Luckiely I was doing a little under the speed limit at the time, and the other car just about stopped. I should make a full recovery. I just started to drag race my bike on the strip this year, and was about to buy a bunch of racing parts for it. I'll be laid up for a couple of months but that will go by fast. And yes that picture does make it alittle better for now, lol.
Thanks to you all for your concerns and responses.

BigBad,
Despite the injuries, you sound reasonably well for your accident, and that is what I am glad about!
Give me the drivers license plate, and I will stuff what's left of ur bike, up his arse! ... ... IAJ.
Heal well.
Damn it RideHarder, stop posting my sister painting her apartment photos all over the internet. Our mom is getting really mad!

Dude,,,,
Sorry to hear of your "off" and the injuries that came with it. How ever you decide to move forward with the hobby of motorcycles( if you continue to ride or to give up riding) the decision is yours based apon your personal priorities. There's no right or wrong decision, just the one that's best for you.
Best wishes for a speedy and easy recovery.

back in 84, i was warming up my honda 1100F for a race by dry running the course first. it was at night and i took the bike through all the gears and had it topped out around 150 when i ran out of road. i misjudged the length of the road and it was pitch black. i remember i was tucked in seeing pavement then i was seeing grass wtf? next thing i know i woke up in an emergency room and they are stitching on my forehead. the shatterproof shield on my kevlar simpson shattered into my forehead. the front was ground down to the mesh. i had some good boots on that they cut off. don't know why. every extremety was scraped up and i compressed some vertebrae. spent 4 months in a body cast. it totalled the 1100F, but i still had my 80 cbx. everyone wanted me to stop riding but NO WAY would that happen. i sure did look funny riding the cbx in the body cast. time will heal the wounds and you learned something that will help you in the future. keep on riding and loving it. i hope you get feeling better soon and get back on the horse!

You all are right about not giving up riding. I can't see giving up riding, it's something that I love to do. But, giving up riding to make sure you stay around for your family is another thing to weigh in on the decision. I know that you can die in a car, or walking down the road, but it seems to be your chances are higher with a motorcycle.
Oh by the way it was a woman that came into my lane and hit me. It's finally sinking in that I truely miss the ZX.
