how does everyone stay cool?
Im curious how everyone is keeping their bikes cool. i run freeways in nevada and its a big concern as we hit 110 115 in certain areas. i have no problems but i tend to go overkill. engine ice- extra fan and wrapped exhaust, what else has every one done?

its been 115 here in phoenix and I have had no problems. I am planing on buying some engine ice to help though, just in case. other options are the muzzy fan, adding a second fan, and adding a zx-10 front fender.
My biggest problem with heat is having a black bike in phoenix. hard to throw a leg over a bike when you can see the heat waves coming off it. and that before its even fired up!

Engine Ice and ZX-10 front fender are all you need. If it'll keep my ZX14 cool by 1.5 bars in 115+ tucson temps, should work anyplace else, except perhaps Death valley.
On a side note, I got my front fender used from a shop who had it laying around. I think it was off a 2006 ZX-10.
Anyone confirm what year fits the best on an 09?

Amsoil helps with extreme temps also. In Louisiana I brought down 1 bar with a combo of engine ice, Muzzy fan, and switched to synthetic oil.

Biggest diffeference I noticed was getting rid of the standard exhaust system and fitting a four-into-one. Instantly cooler.

If you in warmer climates ..... distilled water and "water wetter" will cool better than
anything else out there, but it has NO feeze protection ! (zx10 fender mod a big +)

I would just never ride my bike in the summer. Seriously. I always wear full leathers, gloves and boots.
In Louisiana, it would be so humid!!!! Then, always on a ride of 50 miles in any direction, you would eventually run into torrential rain fall.
In Arizona, after about May, forget about it. It's just not fun to ride when it's over 100 degrees, anywhere, if you don't have too.
When I was racing, I had an air conditioned trailer, that really came in handy.
Now, in the summer, I ride my SeaDoo....

Absolutely correct!!
I've been riding motorcycles for over 30 years, so I've gotten my fill. Don't need to ride when its hot. I prefer to ride my SeaDoo in the lake, and when I get hot, I fall off. You do that on a motorcycle, and it hurts.

My bike is stock as far as cooling system goes, but I have some water wetter if need be. I just haven't had the need to put it in.

In my opinion, the 10 fender by far was the best and easiest mod. The 2nd fan was more about boredom in the winter. It runs automatic with the stock fan and rarely turns on until mid 90's here. I hacked into my 4 way flasher button to turn it on manually if need be. One thing I also did was when I had the fairings off was to silicone the stock foam pads in and add a few where there was big holes for hot air to flow to the rider. I dont have a bit of heat concern anymore and tend to ignore the temp gauge. I'd like to add a analog temp gauge just to see if it's running too cool! ha!

Just got the email update from schnitz about second fan kits with mounts for US$50.
I have a switch to override the thermostat that I turn on as soon as I'm on the return road.

Did you see that the Schnitz fan mounts thur your radiator with four zip ties?
Purchase a second ZX-14 fan and mount it like the C-14 if the ZX-10 fender does not
do it for you. I purchased a Carbon Fiber ZX-10 fender from Bestem and Lyle's
new fork braces work great. It was 103 in Fort Worth, Texas today and no heating problems
in traffic.

I have the water wetter and Brocks exhaust. I also mounted a switch to turn my fan on whenever I want to. If I know I'm gonna be in some stop and go traffic. I flip the switch and it really helps to keep the heat down.

No.... look on Lyle's post for braces for sale, I think the 2006 and up only work. I would
have used a Black 2007 ZX-10 fender but the color did not match, no metallic. So I got
a Carbon Fiber one piece from Bestem on ebay for about $150.00 delivered.
