Nitrous question
Has anybody used a 30 shot of nitrous on a stock wheelbase bike? My bike is a street/strip bike, but I'm thinking for $300-$400 why not!!!!!!! I was wondering, can nitrous even be used in 2nd gear with a stock wb bike, or will I just be doing a wheelie show? Also, would it help me at all at the strip?
I was liking the dyno tune nitrous twin bottle kit the best.

What do you think?
Thanks,

What is the difference between wet and dry shots?
Is it just the location of the nozzles?
Also are the numbers (30, 40) the size of the nozzles?

wet is spraying with fuel
dry is just nitrous and you use a PC to add the required fuel

I have a buddy who put a notros setup on a 109 and he did meticulous work, wrapping the whole setup in heat shield... just the works.
Only to discover after all that great work that adding 30 extra HP just didn't feel like that much OOMPH!
WindSwordNinja: I believe that wet is adding extra gas along with the shot to keep things cooler and safer.... and to meet the need for extra power.
Dry is nitros only, so you can usually only use lower shots when dry, since you'er trying to get some power, but not a bigger shot where you need some extra safety (with adding extra fuel). Wet is a little more complicated, but much more safe if you know how to do it, and you can go larger shots, as well... is my understanding.
Any reason why not use and 80-100 shot on a 14? Is nitros ability about the same in terms of bike engine safety, as a turbo? (I'd think as long as you plan for the hit by extra gas to keep things cool)....

nitrous will break parts with the shock of all the power at once maby on a progressive or a 2 stage it might live for a while
a window switch is good to have in case you miss a gear or spin and the bike just goes straight to red line and pops your motor

Why do you think you need a window switch with dry nitrous? And who told you 40 shot is max? If you think about it, turbos add a lot more then 40 hp and they are safe on stock internals. When running bigger shots (50+ hp), schnitzracing told me to go to a spray bar to get even nitrous distribution. Other then that, you can run big nitrous shots on a stock motor (although I've heard that tighter springs and retainers are recommended).
I think a progressive controller would probably be smart on stock wb.

A window switch (depending on brand) can be programed for gear lockout ,WOT switch,
And rev range activation . I stop spraying 500RPM before revlimiter as an extra safeguard on my motor. It was was on this forum that I've read about a 40 shot max on a stock motor.
Maybe one of the more knowledgeable ones will add more!
I'm using a Dynotune window switch as it is small , waterproof , cheap and does what I described above! I'm limited by funds and went for a cheap safe set up , but if you want to rebuild my motor , I'll gladly let you experiment with it and if Smokin mooves to Mackay I'll use his dyno for a bottle of rum too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm using the single bottle version of the set up you put in your first post.
The 20 OZ bottle fits good too.I't is an upgrade of their 12 OZ in the kit.
Just a thought !
I need to spray to run down the good riders on stock bikes............embarasing!

That is what I am running.
Hit a dyno and have the bike tuned.
Also get a wego III so you can monitor the air fuel mixture.
Then hold on...

I agree Douglas, any more than a 40 shot is lethal. An engine with stock components is not designed for a sudden hit of lets say an 80 shot. Things break! You also run a high risk of running lean with that large of a shot. Good Luck

thats why you hit it with the progressive it wont hit as hard and it will ramp up to your max power kind of like a turbo. I have my bike set up in a 40shot and a progressive and it feels like im on motor when i spray it comes in so smooth

I have been running a 50 shot for over two years now and have had no issues, I bring it in on a 2 knob controller and let it eat. The 94 oct Sunoco is what I always ran. This winter I was getting a bit nervous with all the sprayed passes I have made so I had Bill Deshong tear down the motor to do valve springs. When we opened the head he could not believe I have been spraying this hard for this long, everything looked great. As for the above statement of not feeling thirty horse something is wrong or he is numb, my numbers on a 50 hp go from 9.20's to 8.70's, when I turn off the juice I can really feel the difference.

Can you give any more details on your setup? Spray bar? Jet size(s)? Pulled timing?? Ever measure the hp change at the rear wheel when spraying?

again.
No need to pull timing.
Measure hp - take the bike to a dyno for proper map.
Muzzy and Dyno Tune setup.
Pulls great in second gear right up to 6th.
2 20 oz bottles...
I would not rec that you try it at first in 2nd or third.
Try it in 5th at first to get a feel for the hit and how fast the motor climbs.
When u are comfortable. let her dangle.
Do not hit your rev limiter. NEVER.
Watch your rpm's like a hawk...

oh i know its there i can see it in the MPH and the ET its just with the progressive it comes in much much smoother, it feels very predictable like a motor bike as opposed to a n2o bike.
My window is set to come on a 7000rpm and shut off at 10500rpm and my progressive is start at 33% and ramp up over 2 seconds i shift at 10700 on a auto shift

A progressive set up is over rated.
We are only talking about a 50 shot.
No need for the additional expense.
With a little dyno time and fuel set up from 6500 to 10000 rpm.
You know when you are going to hit the button.
Hangon.
If you dont like it release the button.
NOS is cheap hp.
Stay within the parameters the motor can handle and you should be fine.
No more than a 50 shot.
Dyno time a must. ( Opinions are like ass holes, everyone has 1. This is mine. )
Get a full spectrum air fuel monitor. ( extra safety.)
I am not stating anything new here.
All of this is on previous posts by other members.
Enjoy!
