no cut frame sliders
putting no cut sliders on the zx14 - i need some help with instructions.
instructions says to remove one of the nut from frame - if i do that will the engine be stable enough and want drop or brake other bolts. i put the picture below of the nut that i plan to remove. and what should be the tourque on that one.

Use lock tight and put on as tight as possible thats what i did and I didn't even have to remove the side fin covers. but I always reapply with the same force as removing like spark plugs.

Same as the original bolt TQ rating. I think it' something like 100 FT LBS or somewhere in that range. Loctite, if used will fuck you up if you ever try to remove them...they will break or strip. It happened on my 06.

thanks for your replies however after reading many posts here on sliders i decided not to put them on. due to fear of frame damage.

If anybody's took a close look at that big screw nut or whatever you want to call it that goes through the frame to the engine it doesn't even go all the way through the engine mount.. what I did was modify that long screw to go through the backside and I put a Lock ring through it...
Put my slider on the motorcycle and looked underneath when the radiator was removed I noticed that screw was barely in the threads of the motormouth.. I think that's a safety issue that they should correct..

I have the no cut sliders and they survived the crash at the racetrack! I put them on my new bike. If it wasn't for them, I'm afraid there would have been a looot more torn up. They made a believer out of me.

Same for me, they saved the upper fairing & bars from rash. They wore down almost an inch & bent the bolt but no damage to the frame(luckily). Unfortunatley the timing cover & lower fairing didn't survive & puked oil all over.
By the way the Chinese army is recruiting for target holders again!

I won't go without them anymore. They will pay for themselves over and over again if your bike ever was to fall over. You will regret not havin them, but to each their own...

I decided not to on this bike. Those pics of f'd up frames,, and the thought of it breaking in the frame ,, just turns me off
There really should be another location to mount these..
Make them to snapp off, with no damage,, they can be replace cheap.
Just a free idea for those that want to start up a new gig.........

Then that defeats the purpose of a frame slider... It is to protect small crashes, not catastrophy's. Before I put mine on my bike fell over in garage and broke the right side plastic, scratched the lower, scratched the upper and tail. If I had the frame sliders on it would have scratched my tail only

If sliders protect from damage - it's a bonus. Plus each slider is designed for different kinds of crashes - read the web site/instructions. Some are ONLY designed for high-speed catastrophies and will likely bend/break frame in stupid cases like garage drop (I'm not joking...) But all sliders are really there to save your leg. Broken frame? Sucks. Broken leg? Sucks triple. Crashed leg? Now you're thinking... Amputated leg? Oh I'm sure you'll miss that frame now, won't you?
Forget the frame and put sliders on - not sure about your neck of the woods, but where I'm from legs are more expensive than frames. So is your job that you'll likely lose if you stay in hospital long enough to treat your leg.

Save your leg? Never heard that one before. You must have some really long slider to do that, or you have the skinniest legs ever known.
