Wheel Spin @ The End?
I run an 1/8 mile track. (But a new 1/4 just opened 45 min. away!)
I am happy with my launch 1.4's 60' and 4.0's 330' no spinning at all .
(Best: E/T 6.1's 112's MPH)
The problem:
Some guys with worse 60' and 330' are catching me at the finish line.
I just blamed it on my weight (325 suited). But I had a friend stand at the finish line and he reported that at about the middle of third gear my tire would began spinning(The track is almost never prep'ed.).
I love my set-up (64.5 WB, 16/44 or 45 gearing, strapped and lowered 1.25', lock up clutch, Brock SMEG and Track map flies out, 200mm u-soft 15 psi, rear shock set stiff as possible, everything else stock.)
How can I stop spinning at the end of the 1/8? I know If I don't find a fix I will catch hell at the new 1/4.

If you weigh 300+ and are pullin 1.4x 60fts your getting traction! It sounds to me like its the track. If the new 1/4 mile track is brand new, no one will get traction until somerubber is laid down. Just bc you spin at one track dosent necessairly mean you will spin at the other

Check your clutches too. They will spin at high rpms under load.

Your mph is really low, and that is mostly due to the weight. Guaranteed. A lot of bikes are going to run you down, regardless, with that mph. With that setup, lighter guys are going to put 10+ mph on you.
As far as your rear shock goes, make sure the damping is dialed to the maximum. At your weight and wheelbase you really need a shock upgrade, imo. That will definitely help with traction by keeping the wheel planted and under control.
I find it surprising that it is spinning in 3rd. I have run at very bad tracks with no wheelspin in 3rd, and my rider weight was a lot lighter than yours. And that was with the stock shock as well.

Don't stay in the center. Stay in the car tracks. the center is where you will find your bike spinning. Your clutch could be slipping on the big end.

You can try a little less air in the rear .. Like everyone said stay in the grove IF there is one .. If the track is prepped poorly there is just not much you can do other than what has been said .. A lot of guys here are switching to the shinko slick and they seem to work with a pooly prep'd track ..

You are right about the new tracks traction. Three guys crashed due to traction and I nearly lost it at the 60' once.

I agree, power to weight ratio is against me. I have a busa spring over here in the corner, I may give it a try but currently I am not rubbing the under tail, although very close to it on the launch1" or less from rubbing. I have wheelied and not rubber.? I think it has to do with my lowering link setting.?

Well, your bike isn't that low in the back. Mine hit at about 2" lowered out back. Since the bike is hooking up on the launch (and past the 330'..right?), I would focus on staying in the groove. And make sure your damping is dialed to maximum.

I would like to try a shinko slick but would have to invest in a second rear rim ( does anyone want to sell one with rotor and sprocket?). How do you guys think the shinko slick compares to the new (DOT appoved) power1 and dragtech?
As for as my next track day (Friday) I am going to try sliding back on the seat after second gear to help plant the tire. Hopefully I will have my air-shifter set-up so that I can pay more attention to the groove and shifting my weight. If you guys can think of anything between now and friday please let me know.
Thank for the advise.
Sincerely,
BLK ICE
