my 14 has full exhaust map head work, i shift at 8500, thats where i get peak acceleration, any higher than that i get slower times. When i had no head work i shifted at 7,800sh and same thing. Even though my tuning shows a constant curve and gain, it levels of at that range. I also have an 08.

It's all about getting the maximum amount of power through the rear wheel. If the gearbox ratio's are designed correctly you should shift at just over peak power so that the rpm drops back to just before peak power. Assuming you can transmit that to the road it has to be the optimum way to do it.
With the ZX-14, which doesn't really drop off that much before the engine rev-limiter I shift just before the limiter, 11,000 rpm +

I'm no drag racer but I do ride very hard and fast and have a good seat of the pants feel for performance.Mine pulls hard up to 11K where I shift, I can't imagine short shifting @ 8.5K and not slowing it up some. I've never felt mine nose over before 11K.

If you are peaking at 8500...there is something going on. That is seriously shortshifting this motor. Can't see how that translates into faster times.

Sounds like YOU are the ass here... If you short shift that much you are going to drop too low on your rpms on your next gear, GENIOUS.
