eBay... woeful selleer
A lot of us have been using eBay for a long time. I know I have been buying stuff off of it since I heard about it.
In all these years I have never been ripped off. Very lucky, maybe, or really just normally pretty up front eBay sellers, like me.
I purchased 2 HID kits, from seller orangemika in a single order a few days ago, and they arrived today. They were shipped from 11 miles away, in Walnut, Calif. The seller charged me X 2 ($29.99 x 2) for shipping/handling for a single order, shipped in one box, for a total of $59.98! Wow, I could of had that box hand carried those 11 miles for that, with a bouquet of flowers.
I emailed the seller, orangemika, who is selling these HID kits. You will note that in his description he details that the kits come with a 2 year warranty:
"All of our HID Conversion Kits, HID Bulbs, and Digital Ballasts are covered by a 2-Year Warranty. The warranty covers any factory defects with the bulbs and ballasts. If the product stops working within 2-Years from the date you purchased it, send it back to us and we will replace the defective item. It's as easy as that! Keep in mind that our defective rate on HID Kits and parts is less than 0.3% (yes, less than 1%!) so you can buy with confidence."
http://cgi.ebay.com/BEST-XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-6000K-8000K-10000K-12000K_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ94850QQihZ017QQitemZ270401941392QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVWQQsalenotsupported
I suggested that he must have made a mistake to double charge for S/H, and to please reinburse me back $29.99 for the extra S/H fee he over-charged.
Here is his response about the over-charge on the shipping and handling:
"About the shipping. We pay $30 USD to the Factory insurance to make sure they will give you two years warranty without any words. Thx^^"
Now, I am not too worried about the $, but the principal gets me. I am retired and don't have a whole lot of excitement, other than the 14. Failing to correct this, he can join me to the local court and explain his reponse to the local judge! I've always found they are pretty reasonable...
So this is my 'first' off of ebay. eBay will be provided notice as well.
I note he has a lot of positive feedback. Seems he just dinked out on this for some reason, and lost his common (and legal) sense.

I have noticed you have to be really careful about the shipping scams.
The prices might seem ok, but the service is generally zero, and the shipping often is retarded.

Scam #1: Shipping should have been $29.99 as advertised, not $59.98.
Scam #2: To later try and say extra $30 was for already included 2 years warranty when it states item comes with item (legal interpretation-is included with cost of item, not added on).
each directly violates Calif consumer law.

The actual cost to ship was 13. and change.
I single order in one box (he's shipping flat rate).... using the same shipping fee across the US.
so he took advantage of that
and when confronted then changed why the extra 'fee' was added, to state that is the cost of (already included) warranty. Now decpetive X 2.
No judge will allow that disception. If anyone does not know that, respectfully, they do not have much time working with courts, judges, or comsumer law.
Additionally, if there is 'doubt' about his intention, Calif law states the benefit goes to the consumer. Though when the court sees his response, there would be no doubt.
That is just how the courts & law work on this type of issue/facts.
Back to my point, deceptive seller.

If you have the apparent same (lack of) principals (and legal understanding) as him, good luck. Now bugger off.

I agree, that it was wrong, BUT it stated how much shipping was, and you agreed to it. So I kinda have to agree with wheelie, he said $29.95 per buld. And he labels it as a shipping AND HANDELING charge. If it were me, I'd be pissed too, but I doubt there's much that can be done.

i think the principle is wrong, but if everything was stated up front let the buyer beware. you do have to read the fine print. i hope you do win your case though.

I would agree IF the bulbs where shipped seperately. They were in fact shipped together in a flat rate box. This fact combined with the BS after the fact comment regarding factory insurance at the very least deserves a negative seller comment. Whatever happened to customer service?

I just received another email, apologizing, and basically stating that's how they make their money off these units, by hiking up the shipping fees, since "tehre is no way you can buy the kit for $29.99 in U.S.A . even the auto zone sell the halogen bulb for $40."
They are offering a refund. I appreciate that more direct honesty.
I've done business with various eBay folks, for years, and hardly an issue of mention. I like the place.

Your right, that was VERY poor customer service, but he's right, that's where they make their money. Yes, it should have been wayved since they were shipped in one box. I'm glad they decided to refund the money!

Return the parts on your dime and request a refund, if he refuses a refund go over his head with either paypal or you credit card company and file a dispute. You are not stuck with this unless you have opened the product.
