trip to the track

well, went to test and tune last night.stock '08(stock gear),6" over, with smeg and brock's map.best pass was 10.26 @ 127.656.1.77 60'.i felt pretty good considering this was my first time ever at the track on a bike.went to the track one time in a car about 15 years ago.they ended up doing a trophy run,and i ended up runner up,with the second place trophy(about 12-15 bikes).last pass i ran a cbr 600,he dialed 10.70.i let the clutch go too fast, not enough rpm, bike bogged.had a .032 reaction, but a 2.09 60'.went 10.84 @ 131mph.going back in two weeks for more practice.maybe with a gear and launch master.

don't waste your money on the launch master... all you need is seat time.

Im gonna have to disagree on this one Bawls. For a beginner rider it is excellent. You have the ability to move the rpm up in 100rpm increments,so you dont have to worry about going to high of an rpm at first. Plus theres no need to watch the tach at the line, gives a new racer the abitly to focus on the lights, staging, and body position.

Ditch the launchmaster. You will start to depend on it way to much and not learn to race without it. Get comfortable on the bike and you will get much, much better without the launchmaster.

Second thing is after reading the post again is 127 mph is WAY off. You should be running much faster ET's even at you 1.77 60ft. Are you sure that your map download made it to the bike? Truly I am not being a prick just something does not sound right.

I have to agree. I'm 250 lbs with my gear on, and still I'm running around 138-139. My buddy weighs about 200 and ran mine around 147. Your mph seems way off.

bought the pcIII from brock when i bought the pipe.has a note on the back of it(pcIII)saying map for stock bike with smeg.mph varied.one pass 10.34 @ 132.7mph.a 10.30 @133,a 10.75 @133.4,a 11.00 @ 111.4(first pass).and last pass 10.84 @131.4(bogged the engine).i'm new to sport bikes.i sold my '03 ultra classic to buy the concours, but the atomic silver zx made it home instead.i think seat time at the track will help me more than anything.we'll see.

Seat time first for sure, rider aids come later.

Nice going for 1st time at the track Kenneth, the terminal speed was a bit low?

What are the odds that he is up in the mountains or somewhere with a super high DA. Those sound like New mexico times to me.

Oh yeah... don't worry so much about cutting a good light until you get the riding part down. There are enough things to worry about when you're starting out.

Hey,
One more note on the 2 step. Swear on my life that a guy on a zx14 broke his T3 and T4 vertibrae at the track Wednesday. Oh, and totalled his bike. The reason is that his 2 step malfunctioned and when he got to like 150 ft his bike looped out and crushed him. I was not there but a bunch of guys were talking about it today at the track. I hope you believe me but 2 steps are for wheelie bar bikes................Period.
