I had to use a pair of big water pump pliers on the oil filter, due to me not having a oil filter wrench small enough for it. I will pick one up today to tighten it though. I used the KAWASAKI 10W-40 in it, anybody use this, and any thoughts??
I heard not to use fully snythetic in the ZX if you are gonna drag race, due to slipping the clutches. Any thoughts?????
yes by all means DON'T run full Syn oil or your clutches will slip like they did on my zx14.. The clutches slipped so bad i could only run 8.70s @ 154 !!! Just think if i had run some crappy oil i could have run 7s !!!

Motul 300v. Really improved clutchless upshifts on my bike. 1 bar cooler on the temp gauge as well. Stock filter. A happy camper.

"smokin", any particlar reason why you don't use a lighter wgt mobile one, (5w20 or 0w20) being that you drag race and any wgt reduction is advantagous? Your reason is greatly appreciated.

I have tried Brocks 0wt oil and it did run a bit better numbers BUT the motor sounded like a trash compactor ..Seeing that i hot lap my bike alot i didn't feel a lighter oil would be the right thing to do ... Jesses turbo zx14 we used mobil one 15 w 50 and never had a problem like others did ..A zx14 like mine might be fine with a thinner oil than 10w30 but i just felt safer with 10w30 ...Brocks zx14 runs 0wt oil and has never seen a problem ,so i guess it's ok .. If i was looking for the very last 100th of a second i guess i would use it ..

The Mobil1 filter is an M1-110. Autozone is running a deal for 5 qts of Mobil 1 plus Mobil 1 filter for 29.99. The pure one is a good filter as well.

The M1-108 is the short 2.5" for a aftermarket exhaust.

SmokinZX, Oil should be at your place today. Will the oil be your only change when you test? And will the test be with a lock up? Judging by your speed and time you've been having a lockup. I seen some where in dragbike zone that one guy is using Amsoil 5w20 Dominator. The only Dominator I know of is a 2 stroke oil. I need to do some research on that and I'll let you know. Thanks

I'm running the AmsOil 10W40 in my bike now. Stuff ain't cheap. $60 oil change. Like Smokin I normally run regular Mobil 1 10w30 car oil with no problems.

Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic 10w-40 (Make sure it has the sportbike on the label) it has certain additives for bikes only.

I bought it at case price and my oil change is a fraction of that. I got mine through Rex on another forum at a price so sweet I decided to give Amsoil a try

Yes motorcyle specific oil is JASO rated for use with wet clutches. I have run the 10w40 car oil for several years with no problems or clutch slippage. It works just fine. You see Smokin's times? That's with Mobile one car oil.

My Boss at home did say she would work a good deal for people on this thread. Email her at tjsynthetics@bellsouth.net. Better yet 866-984-4664.
For those using car oil. Automobile oil's were restricted by the EPA by reducing the some of the best products that went into the base stocks. I believe you can find on Brocks forum his reason that can better explain.
I've also seen on dragbike zone there is a Zx12 rider using Amsoil 5w20 Dominator Racing oil. Amsoil racing oil will have a lot more of the components that you would be looking for in an oil for your bike since it's for racing.
