EK 530DR2 chain
Just wondering what 's the opinion on the EK 530DR2 chain for a street/strip bike?
Also is anyone using the spyder nitrous system from MPS?

I'm having that chain installed on my 06. Looks like one heavy duty SOB! I'll do my best to try to break it! lol

Good chain, just needs alittle more care for street miles. have it on my 14 right now as well

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread but the OE chain on my 14 has done a couple of seasons now, it's still good but I am thinking of replacing as routine maintenance.
Apart from the EK 530DR2 mentioned what do people rate for quality, strength, reliability and low friction. Cost is not a problem. I was looking at the Quadra-X Ring EK 530 ZVX ?

I've got one on the 14, no o-ring, needs constant lube and attention. Not for street.

use something like the 530 zvx works better on the street to me and you can use it on the strip

Most suggest the EK ZZZ for the street. I have a DRZ-2, and it takes a lot of maintenance. I bought the chain for it's strength and reduced drag...but for a lot of street miles go o-ring.

I have the DRZ-2 on mine. Just keep it lubed and you'll be fine for the street.

Chain & sprockets are a pain to maintain I dont see why the Japs don't market a Shaft for sport bikes I know they are heaver and not as responsive . But much improvement in wight & power to compensate a novice sport riders without the hassle .

If shaft drive really offered advantages in performance the WSB BMW S 1000 RR would use it. Plainly it doesn't (as you say) and most riders I know don't mind doing a spot of maintenance. For those who do there are alternatives.

It's got about 100-150 pass's on it with about 800-1000 riding miles. We only get about 4 good months of racing in with winter and all the rain outs. I should clean it more often but I do it every month or two with a total wipe down and relube. I use Tri-Flow...we used it in our lock business for the last 15 years and it's good stuff....has teflon in it.

That's what I thought. When you say it's been on for two years, that kind of implies a lot of miles. But in reality, the chain only has about 1000 miles on it. A lot of street guys do that or more in a month. The non o-ring is a bad choice for a primarily street bike, imo.
I have a non o-ring, but I do few street miles. My chain is cleaned and lubed after every street ride or track day. Usually get's cleaned and/or lubed every 50 miles or so. I *might* stretch it to 100 miles if street riding. Any sand or grit will get right into the pins/rollers and start eating them up.

I lube my DRZ2 about every 250 to 300 street miles. They don't last as long as a good O-ring chain. 1 season, maybe 2 at the most. Will problably go back to an EK ZVX next time.

mine lasted just under 8k miles and a few hundred passes but than chain would stretch bad, after every other ride i was re adjusting clean it and lube it, i just orderd a 530, O-Ring, ZVX - EK for this season
