Lowered

How low can the 2008-09 zx14 be lowered without running into problems? Bike will be used for street riding and not for the strip

Warlord,

2.5" is slammed and you probably don't want to ride on the street that low...I do know some individuals that do. My bike is 1.25" front and back and that works for me on the street but you still need to be extremely careful of speed bumps etc.

I would say it's a necessity to have a cut oil pan or you are asking for trouble. I have a cut oil pan with the drain plug relocated to the rear of the pan. I got my pan from Clem's Kawasaki in Logansport, Indiana. Shannon is a great guy and the price was very reasonable. I believe it was $250.

Get the oil pan first!!!

Good Luck and Be Safe!!

Or you can shave off the guard and use a low profile bolt. That will get you over 1/2" more of clearance. I'm not big on modifying the sump and pickup, but it seems to work well for lots of guys.

I agree 100% with Shane. I didnt get a Clem Pan or cut the pan, I shaved off the guard completly and got my drain plug relocated and put the plug in the back of the pan. Works and looks great. That is a good idea you came up with Shane and less costly and time consuming, but it was after I had already did the Mod. I had to remove the pan and replace the gasket and get the pan welded.

Here is the mod, which you can without removing the pan:

There are plenty of options...the point is that you should definitely do something. I broke 1/2 of my guard off going into the trailer...lowered about 2" at the time.
