Radar Detector
What is a good radar detector for the 14? Is there something that is hidden?

I was looking for that link that has some ex-cop radar guy, who tests the lot. Mainly for cars, but at least you can find one that works first - then go about fitting it on the 14.
This has been covered before. Someone will post the link i'm talking about.
However, i just found this - dependant on if your in Cal. but a bit of info anyway.

I got my Passport 8500 through motorcycleradar.com. Saved me many times and has more that paid for itself. They sell packages that include the mount and the screamer so that you can hear it audibly when riding.

In an urban setting things are very different, around where I am in the stix a radar detector has never 'saved me' on the bike, and only once in my car. The only time it will work is if they flick a car ahead of me, and the cops around here are very discerning who they check.
It is another tool, but never rely on it. I have the X50 and it is a great detector - you either need a screamer, a bank of LED lights that will flash in your field of view (tricky in daylight), or an earpiece which is difficult to do properly unless you have a moulded plug with sound. That is because I believe in perfect hearing protection otherwise, of course.
I want to rig a remote LED that you put up in your helmet, it wouldn't be hard at all technically. Yes I know about the GI/Radar remote they sell, it is retardedly expensive.

I don't have a Radar Detector on my bike or any of my vehicles, they are a false since of security and I have had more trouble with one than without it.

Escort 9500IX amped thru a Radar Screamer is a very reliable combo, Combine that with keen observational skills and a switchable Laser Scrambler and your set. Detects speed cams, Red light cams, and all current types of mobile speed detection equipment.

Radar detectors have saved me thousands. I have one in every vehicle. I prefer the Beltronics RX65.
In Florida, cops use Ka most of the time. If I'm cruising at 85~90, all I have to do is back off the throttle when the radar detector flashes, and I'm safe.
I tried the Adaptiv Technologies TPX, it has some really cool features, like easy removal, bright LED flasher (hard not to notice) and large widely spaced buttons. It is also water resistant and vibration resistant. The downside was the false positives, which freaked me out way too often. The LED flasher for the TPX does work on the Bel RX65, just need an adapter for 3.5 (male) to 2.5mm (female). Remember if a radar detector saves you once, it has paid for itself.

Nope I use the Valentine 1 with the HARD display in my helmet. I have a Techmounts
mount on my 14 and my 2007 ZX10, I just move V1 from bike to bike as needed.
