The good old days

Best pass
10.02 @ 138 MPH

Ryan Schnitz holds the record of 9.60 in the old 600ss class. I was cheating like crazy with this bike and used to get beat up on by the factory riders. Oh well on to the 14.

Ah no........

My youngest son Chad was factory supported by Kawasaki in '02 & '03 running in the 600 SS class, in 2004 he got a full factory ride with Team Green and I can assure you that too much was riding on their reputation for cheating.

The rule book was scrutinized and since parts were available he could experiment around where many privateers could not but he did not cheat. He passed every post race tear down.

I'm in no way saying that some folks didn't cheat but Kawasaki would have run everybody off for cheating, it wasn't worth the risk.

Chad M. Is a great rider. I met him in Virginia that year. I remember speaking to you and your wife as well. What I was getting at was 600's do not MPH like ours were without lots of mods. Did Chad ever run a 9.60 like Schnitz at over 140MPH on a STOCK 600? I hope Chad is doing good.

Are you implying that Schnitz is a cheater?

I didn't think you were, but I had to ask. You know, the whole "I can't do it, so therefore it is not possible" way of thinking...I hear it a lot.

Don't they say your only cheating if you get caught?

At 220lbs I could run a wet NOS kit on one of those 600's and still not compete.

14nooby,

Chad is married and doing well, thanks for asking.

He ran mostly 9.70's @ 140 or so. There was some really good riders in that class but nobody could leave like Ryan.......he was the best.

Back then if you were light (which Chad was by 50 pounds) the make up weight could be put anywhere which allowed Chad to leave on the rev-limiter, his 60 foots were in the high 1.40's and Ryans were quicker than that !

Those were fun days, thanks for reminding me of the good times.
