ZX14 Shock

I have a 08 ZX14 and the guy I got it from made the shock way to stiff. I weigh 160 suited, stretched to 64, 17/44 gearing, and set at lowest setting on lowering links. I raced it for the first time this weekend and it bounced down the track. How much of the threads should be showing to get me closer to get it adjusted right and turns on upper and lower screws? Any info would be great! Thanks.

I have never heard of it being too stiff. I am the same weight and mine is at the stiffest setting and my tire still rubs the fender every pass.

Sounds like an aftermarkeet spring. Take a pic of it, and see if there is any name or number on it, I'm sure someone would trade you for a lighter aftermarket spring, or would buy it off you. They are around $120 for Racetec rear spring FYI.

If it is bouncing, you need more rebound damping, you will need to turn the adjuster in to get more damping and prevent bounce.

If it compresses too fast , you need more compression to slow the compression, by turning the compressiona adjuster in

adjusters:
In is to increase, out is to decrease.

Spring:
Tighten to stiffen, loosen to soften

If it has adjustable threaded links, they are used to set ride height, and will not change suspension control

Well on the track you where at you probably could not leave hard enought to rub the inner fender. get to a decent track so you can see what it is doing.

Shane posted this link awhile back. Check the pre-load, but I suspect aftermarket spring as well.
