calling out gearing gurus

I've been making 9.8-9.9 second passes fairly consistantly now, but I think I could benefit from a gear change. I'm currently at 16-44. If I shift at 10,500RPM at each gear change, my 4-5 shift occurs roughly at the 1000' mark and I "coast" through to the end in the lower end RPM of 5th gear. I'd like to cross the line right at a 10500 shift point for maximum gain of the gear.
What tooth count would I need to increase the rear to? I was going to just guess and pick up a 47, but thought I'd use the wealth of knowledge on here first - thanks in advance

Depends on you weight? I run 16/41 and I am at the top of 5th when I cross the line. I weigh 150.

and what is your set up? stock wheelbase? I think shifting at 10500 is too soon too.

how is your 60 foot, what wheelbase? Weight? Pipe? mods? lowered?

I ask because I don't know of anyone running that 16/44 gearing already, and going 47 is even further out there

Most 220 lb+ heavy guys are very staisfied with 16-42, or 43.

I am not trying to be an ass, just trying to help, but there might be better ways to get the ET down, then the gear you have will be closer, and 47 would be counterproductive

gearing that low has got to be a handful to launch, wheelies etc, and your shift from 1st to second would be almost instantaneous once the clutch is out off the line...

These engines don't rev as fast as literbike, they like to pull, meaning close to stock gearing is often better than low gearing, it might feel faster with ultra low gears, but I doubt it is

Didn't think wheelbase would factor in - gear ratio is gear ratio isn't it? (I'm not a mechanic - I just like to ride!)
Anyway, 64" at around 240 suite

Gear ratio calculates to power out of the hole...short wheelbase you dont want alot of hear or all it will do is wheelie. If the bike is extended then you can add more gear because the bikes longer and can get more power to the ground.

Wheelie,
What are your short times and your ets? If you throw in an extra shift there goes .20 off your et.
