You really shouldn't slide the forks up more than 1 inch, and even at that you will need to remove or relocate the horn, and the fender might contact the underside of the fairing lightly... mine did.

If you lower it without removing the horn, the fender will push it into the rad...
also your oil drain plug will be susceptible

Lowing the forks /reducing travel internally is ideal.

The forks taper quickly below the lower triple. If you slide them up too much the triple won't grip them properly.

I hang the frt of the bike off the ceiling in my shop, while it is on a rear stand, stable and no weight on the frt end.

Take a trip to the local 7-11 magazine rack. Usually the ones located towards the back do the trick. If that doesn't work there is always the little blue pill.

Use a motorcycle Jack and lift the bike off the ground...Loosen up the Lower Triple Tree bolts (4) and Gently bang the top of the forks back down.... I used a piece of plumbing pipe and a hammer to bang them back down without leaving marks and you wont hurt your adjustment screws at the top. Then tighten everything back.

I purchased a second set of forks last month so I can purchase some race Tech Gold Valves and and shorten the forks 1.5" and install different front springs. No way I am pushing
my forks up. Most that do sooner or later break a oil pan. I have one of Shanes new oil
plugs and and grinding off the fins/guard on the used pan I got from moon.
