salvage price zx14
most of you know i wrecked my bike last week. insurance is only giving me about 8500 for the bike, problem for me is i owe about 10600 on it. for some reason none of my good parts on the bike were even touched. muzzys m-10 system, muzzys 6 inch swingarm, bmc race filter, dragchain, muzzys lowering links, racetech spring for my weight,pc3,there is probley a little more that i am forgetting, plus a chrome chain guard. i plan on getting a new 09 soon as this is all over and i am not sure if i will put the swingarm back on. the motor is still good as well with 6000 on it 98% back and fourth to work no hard racing and i never got to take it to the track. sucks. let me know what you guys think. i asked the claims guy if i could pull off the aftermarket parts i put on it he said no go,he also said that the leinholder may not let me keep the bike. this whole thing is a pain. my insurance is through state farm.
thanks guys

if you have the stock parts to put back on AND they did not insure the aftermarket stuff.....you CAN swap it back out.....they just don't want to let you do it because they know they can get better money for the bike from a salvage sale.....

+1
Let them know you'll get a lawyer involved if the aftermarket
parts weren't insured through them! Swap it all back with the oem
and put it on your new bike or sell it... just my $0.02

I live in Georgia and have Geico. Here, you have to declare your aftermarket items because anything over $500 MAY cost you extra in premiums. However, I have a 08 1400S.E. and was given 10,200 for mine with 3500mi on it and prior damage!
Funny thing is that I had JUST got it back from the shop like two weeks prior and was slated to take it to the shop on Saturday and it was stolen on that Thursday. They scratched it up, dented the tank, and really didn't do too much more. Buffing and touch up paint would probably fix it and one new fairing. But to fix it back to stock (which is how it was), we ended up totaling it out for 10,200 and I bought it back from them for 2250!!!! It might cost me 2K or so it fix whats wrong!
That was the 3rd time in 6 months they stole it! Once out of a parking lot, once out of the house, and once out of my friend's drive way when I rode it there and went out. 3 times stolen, 3 fools caught within a couple of hours. One all the way in another state, one had SIX other bikes-guns-drugs-and stolen electronics, and the last one was caught 35 min after he took it.
If you don't have LoJack with the early warning system....Get it!!! it is worth the investment. Trust me!!!! And if they don't find your bike in 24 hours they refund the cost of the system. After 30 days, they give you $5000 on top of what your insurance pays you! AND your insurance rate goes WAY down when you have one.

When I wrecked mine, State Farm let me take all the extra stuff off as long as I put stock back. Then they told me I could buy it for $2500.
