quote: I don't care if 1/8th mile takes more skill....... I wish we had 1.5 mile tracks. I just like going fast! One thing that would suck at a long track though is there would be a lot more waiting. Do you 1/8th mile guys get a lot more runs in compared to a 1/4 mile track?
Agreed. The concencus here seems to be that you should approach every run like it's 1/8th mile but longer is more fun. My club are doing standing start miles and mile and a quarter runs this weekend. The faster people are up around 230mph.

You will find that people that run 8th most are better riders flat out! And it is like you guys are saying. It is Skill. No time to B.S on the light, 60 or 330. That is your race right there! If you can master that art, you will go to a quarter mile track and dominate all day long!

You can compete with less HP in the 1/8. That's where your skills really show.
I can't tell you how many times I have been passed after the 1000 ft mark.
That's HP-weight. I'm TFA and need to more HP just to to hold onto what I take out the hole.
Front half is rider and setup , Back half is mechanic and weight.
I could save a azz load of money if I only ran 1/8, but I'm sprung on the 1/4.
