More Wheelbase Questions...

So, the other day I measured my wheelbase at 63.25", strapped down. I am thinking of going to 64" with it. I see that the distance between rollers is 5/8". So, I'm thinking you get less than 1/2" in wheelbase for every two links (due to chain angle front to rear).

Can anyone confirm this, or provide more information? I've been told about 1/8" of wheelbase per sprocket tooth as well.

Also, what about when you lower the bike in the rear? That affects chain angle and presumably wheelbase as well. Any guidelines there?

I will be getting into some of this tomorrow as I prep the bike, but any info is appreciated.

Shane

I'm not going too low with it....just bit more. I have a launch photo and I can go up to about an inch without getting into a bad angle on the arm.

I didn't really get much feedback on this thread, huh? I'll do the measuring myself tomorrow...what I find out will be a secret forever!

I know thats rught shane ive been watching all day hoping to get an idea on my wheelbase. scott you said make the swingarm level with you on the bike, so when i set they should look level, and if its to low there would be a sag im guessing? the reason Im asking is an guy at the track told me that my bike looked out of balance.

Scott, I'm not so sure about this. It would seem that if the arm is level with you on the bike, static, that the swingarm angle will go negative when you launch. Which is what you wish to avoid, correct?

Shane, you are pretty close on your thinking about the wheelbase. I just checked the marks where I was at 42 and where it is now at 44. It seems to be about 3/8 inch for 2 teeth.
