new zx14

hello my names chris and t/y all for anyone who can help me with my problem. I have a new zx14 with 435 miles on it 2008 model. i am looking for a few simple mods for drag racing. i still want to drive it on weekends but i want a little more power then the next guy if i need it. like what sprockets should i use 17-40 combo or 17-47 seems to be common. my friend says i should go 16-50 but he blows his stuff up every month lol. i am not worried about top end because i mean the speed limit is only 65 here. so if you can all give me a list of a few items or what to go with i love the help. and i really like to beat my friend with his GSXR 1000 with his turbo.also i want to build it strong with steel parts not alum. and i like to use a zex nitours kit. about 20-40 extra hp and i want to keep the tire size stock but i want to have a longer swing arm. and lower the bike.

sprockets 16-43 your gonna hear alot. I ride on the street also you can see my mods below. It all depends how fast, and how much money you want to spend. You can put a turbo on your 14 and ride on the street if you wanted. Theres lots of good guys with alot of useful info to help you on this site. And dont let me forget welcome to the forum. Are you bone stock? any Pipe? what kind? pc3? secondaries?

First off, I don't know what your your budget is, but this would get you started. The alien head is an awesome pipe, but brock has a new full Ti pipe out now that makes a little more power. The only problem is that it's kind of spendy. Also, you might want to check out the dynotune nitrous kit if you're going to spray dry. This should get you started though.

64" wheelbase, brocks alien head exhaust, Power commander, air shifter, BMC race filter, shinko 003 Ultra soft or Michelin power race tire, strap brackets, lowering strap, lowering links, drop the front triples 1" on the forks, and either mod the oil pan like shane661 did or buy a clems lowered pan. The 14 is a very capable platform with a great clutch. In the right hands, it can turn some pretty bitchin' numbers and is much easier to ride than a turbo 1000 lol. That being said, don't try to jump him from a roll :P.

here are a couple of links to help you out.

STAY AWAY FROM 17/40 If your going to be riding on the street as well as the strip I would stick with 16/42.........17/45.......16/43...........17/46.............16/44............17/47...................if your going to extend the bike to 64 inches like Bawis said then i'd go with a 17 tooth front and a larger rear........how much do you weigh that could effect your optimal gearing.

If it were me i'd go 17/45 if you spend more time on the street and 17/46 if you spend more time on the dragstrip.
