Ping: Masszx14 -Rear brake?
Do you still have the exoticycle 05-06 caliper hanger?
I need to buy one asap.
I am not happy with the single piston rear caliper of the 07-08 GSXR.
It is a joke for a brake compared to the dual opposed piston on the zx14 and 05-06 gsxr.
The 05-06 might be a little heavier, but it also holds more fluid and less likely to boil over.
Wish I would have known this sooner...
That 07-08 rinky dink toy brake might be good for an average bike, but not one that will repeatedly see over 200 mph. Frankly I think its a poor design and would not wish for it over the dual opposed piston caliper for any use or circumstance.
I want to shave weight , but not at the cost of safety, control, or stopping ability! LOL
If you still have it please get to me asap.
I will be ordering one Thursday, one way or another.
The bike is coming along pretty nice, even with a few hiccups caused by others.
Been real busy the last few days...

Once you are on the front brakes that hard you have unloaded the rear wheel enough to where it won't be doing much, imo...except maybe for locking up at speed.
But everyone has a different braking style, just keep the possibility in mind...

I agree Shane, and I do hardly ever brake with the rear, my back pads look like new after 10,000 miles, wheras the fronts were done at 9,000 miles... I do alot of hard braking to chop the 1st 100 mph off ....LOL
I grew up on dirt bikes, motocross and ice racing ( dirt track with studded tires)
I grew up setting up corners with the rear brake, squaring them off or powersliding ,and my first street bike taught me a good lesson... hanging it out doesn't work so well on pavement unless you are prepared to brake slide it until you stop or powerslide it until it straightens up.
Sometimes you tend to run out of road when playing these antics...LOL
Commitment is key!
Needless to say I highsided my first street bike 20 years ago brake sliding it...
It was all good until I let off the brake, full lock countersteer, perpendicular to direction still travelling at about 40 mph... falling off a bike at that speed isn't too bad, having it chase you into a curb kinda sucks... yes I got squashed... LOL
I tend to avoid the rear brake as much as possible especially if the pavement is sketchy...or offcambered
However, for me .... this bike will be in a whole new realm in terms of acceleration and and top speed ability. Many of our tracks also have relatively short run outs, especially for the performance I expect to get out of this bike.
I have think having the most powerful yet modulated brake control possible will be a good idea.
Many of the locals have had to go back to dual discs on the front, as the single front could not slow them, and ran off the run out...
These guys having issue are the ones making 165+ mph in the 1/4 , I hope to see 175+ by end of the season.
The bike will make the power. Traction, my ability, and courage should be the only limitations...LOL
