Redline
I have tried 3 different oils in the bike and thanks to some good advice here I tried Redline. There was an almost immediate difference from the Mobil1 and Castrol I had used before. The engine is a touch smother but the big difference was in the shifting. Definitely smoother and not nearly as noisy. It is not cheap but it is all I will be using from now on.
I know, we did not need another oil thread but I just wanted to say thanks!

Shiiit... That is expensive. I've noticed the last 2 times I've changed my oil ( 2 times ago was kawi synthetic and last time was schell synthetic. Both times when I changed them the oil wasn't hot, just ran for a solid min or two before I pulled the plug and it was almost as thin as water... Maybe I need to give it a try. Can you get more passes at the track with it? I try to change my oil every 5 to 6th trip to the track, which isn't but 800 to 1000 miles..

I just bought from these guys. Oil got here in a matter of a few days. After even more riding it is amazing how quietly and smoothly this thing shifts now.

I run Royal Purple 20w50 M/C synthetic. Bike runs cooler than with conventional oil. Also shifts smoother. Also 13 bucks a quart.

Each time I change oil and filter, allowing plenty time to let her drain, I manage to put in 4.3 Qt., without reaching the top level mark.

You will depending on what oil you are using now. The first time I started it after the oil change I was amazed how much smoother the idle was. It still clunks a bit going into 1st from neutral but all the upshifts are substanitially quieter and smoother.

Thats the "regular" 10w40...not the motorcycle oil. Any reason for that other than cost?
