sprocket specialist anodized or no?

i was going to pick up a 40t rear when i was given a choice between a reg and a hard anodized. the lady said the hard anodize is good for twice the miles. so is there truth to that or just hype?

what do most of y'all run with?

Steel is real! Sunstar steel will get you 2 to 3 times as far as alum.

Anodize. If it is bare aluminum it will wear very quickly.

I think they make aluminum sprockets now with steal teeth . I would not risk a full aluminum sprocket on a 14

I've used the Sprocket Specialist hard anodized on my ZX 14 from 3 weeks after i got it and its still going strong...........its expensive but well worth the money Sprocket Specialist custom makes the hard anodized monthly in any gearing you want and it also looks great in black.

I have one a 42 and after 2000 Hard miles you can see wear at the bottom of the teeth.

Now that the stock chain has stretched out I have a steel 43.

The soft material just will Not hold up for Hard use compaired to steel.

Vortex is fine if you just ride on the hiway and do not do wheelies or

drag race. They will take abuse............... just not as long as steel.

Steel is great if you don't mind a 1 lb. heavier sprocket. A good aluminum can last thousands of miles, if you care for it properly.

Aluminum will easily hold the power of the 14...as for the finish, hard anodized is better than bare, for certain.

thanks for the replies, guys. lot of different opinions.

i'm going to give the anodized a try and see how it holds up. i always have the stock sprocket to throw back on.
