Thanks Guys...All of you.

I just came back from the maiden ride of the salvage ZX-14 I bought a few months back. When I bought the bike it had no fairings, broken gauges, a shifted and twisted subframe, no exhaust, no lights (no nose whatsoever), busted radiator and the list goes on.

By coming to this site and checking various posts and input from so many riders, tuners and do-it-yourselfers, I was able to put this thing back together respectably. Though I was only out for a few moments the bike rode quite well. I'm actually a little shocked at the amount of torque the bike has and I'm pleasantly surprised by its handling.

The only thing I don't like is a noticeable lag in power in first gear when the bike is in the lower rpm range. Once passed a certain point, the bike moves forward quite rapidly.

Has anyone experienced this with their ZX-14? Thanks.

Remove the secondary throttle plates. A common mod, with huge low rpm gains. Remap with a power commander to make it right.

once you pull those flies you definitely won't complain about a lack of low end power anymore lol.

Secondaries came out a long time ago - back when I removed the dented tank. Today I loaded the Muzzy map from Dynojet (no secondaries, Muzzy system, stock filter).

Under acceleration the bike felt like it wanted to lift the nose but there's just that one "mild spot". I'm going to run the bike out to Rev'd Up Motorsports in the next couple weeks (another tip I got from a guy here on the board) and have them throw it on the dyno and set a map in place that works well with the bike.

Finding the right Muzzy map can be tricky. I got one from Muzzy that was a dyno queen but had 3 bad flat spots of idle, 6500 and 8500, keep trying different ones. This is where Brock's leaves the others behind...

Not a very good exhaust for the bike. I have a Boz Moira. I love the way it looks and don't even mind the sound but for performance it's not the pipe to have.

As far as "no secondary flies" maps I'm really down to the one I'm running now (Muzzy) and the one for the Two Brothers full system. That's why I'm going to take this thing to be dyno'd.
