After the local chrome shop fubarrred the swingarm on the busa I am building ... they damaged as they were too lazy to put a charge in several places, they tried charging the entire mcIntosh arm from one axle block and melted the aluminum, I said screw it and went powdercoat.
I will NEVER bother with chrome on any part that big ever again... I had to have the arm welded and built up, then machined again... cost me 4weeks on the build, plus I ended up having to strip the bike down to the frame again to match the arm for powder.....at least the motor was still out since my "help" bent a piston ring installing the jugs...
Yeah good work is hard to find these days...

With the lack of replies after the photo's, something must be cooking...
Hope it's a good outcome for all.

Yea, there have been almost 200 views since posting the photos. I don't know whats up!? I've resigned myself to the fact that nothing will be done and I will just have to live with the wheels the way they are. After purchasing the Brocks system this year there is no cash for wheels. I don't think I'm inclined to do any further business with Reflections at this point anyway, regardless of their offer.

All i can do is offer to replate the front as i stated. The rear was inspected and as i stated it has some pits from wheel casting not bad chrome. As i stated i will try to get it waranteed but it appears to be a poorly cast wheel. It won't hurt to send it out with the front. The worst that can happen is it won't be fully covered. I did personally offer to split the cost of replating this wheel regardless of what my chromer says and you weren't interested. I don't know what else i can do for you. The offer still stands until the end of this week. If i don't have your wheels in hand by then, i will take it you decided to live with them and tell everyone what a poor businessman i am.

The End

This is the first time I have heard that offer. It is in fact a reasonable one that I might have considered when you still had my wheels at your location. It is a shame it took so much time and effort to get it.

No, you will not have my wheels by the end of the week. I will live with the wheels the way they are and research options for next year. Again No, I will not tell everyone what a poor businessman you are. I have stated my case and will let this thread stand alone as my only tirade. It is too bad it came to all this because everytime I'm out on my bike someone asks me "who did your wheels?"

I want my wheels chromed bad! I really thought it would make them easier to maintian not harder. Anyone know a good chrome shop that really stands behind their work? This case sounds like a case of too many hands on the product you paid the dealer who sublet the job to this guy who sublet the job to a chrome guy.... the chrome guy might have well stood by his work had you delt with him directly

the rear is casting, every factory rim I have ever had chromed had the same markings. I wish I had close ups but this is a pic of the last bling bike I had. It had the same markings that you have also noticed.

Big Blue,
I think that Fish said it right - about the only worry, being with the Red rings
Reflections Polishings did say that it is more than likely the castings causing the issue.
If it was my bike, i personally would have not been bothered with these issues. You took very good photos as well.
NoFault implies he has had chromed rims before and these (yours), are normal to him.
I'd say that Reflections has done the right thing, but your'e understandably upset over this.
Maybe another poster has chromed their ZX14 wheels and can send you (us), their pictures?
Start another post asking for this, maybe?
I'm not an expert, but would it have been possible to 'smooth off' the casting imperfections before you sent them in?
Lastly, i would have eaten a bit of humble pie and sent back the wheels to Reflections and accepted their offer. As, you would have been sure they would have taken the utmost care to 'get it right', and you would have got back the best they can do.
That result would have confirmed that the 'pits' are normal or they messed up the first time.
Your wheels look great as they are!
