Turbo in red...part II
Last week I was limited in my canyon riding due to the filter and dump pipe sticking out too far on the sides and getting scraped. Bob and I, well...Bob mostly, reworked the turbo 14 to allow for better clearance. We took the filter off the turbo and put a K&N where the stock air filter goes. Also trimmed the dump pipe about 1/3 of an inch. Bob's got a serious set of tools and equipment at his house that allowed for us to do all this. High tech shit, I'm tellin' ya!
Took it up into the canyons today and had no issues whatsoever. Did have one tool on a Honda 919 that didn't want to let me pass him, so he got spooled up on when there was a decent straightaway. 
Still getting used to all that the bike is capable of. Probably good that the roads were a little dirty. Kept me in check and didn't allow me to push too hard. Nevertheless, the bike kicked ass and slices through curves like BUTTER!

I must be missing something. I see you put a metal cage on the turbo inlet, but why put a "K&N where the stock air filter goes"?
I made a K-N mod'd filter from a stock filter base and filter material cut outta a K-N panel filter, so it ends up being 3" shorter then the stock, and barely goes past the cowl. I have not been able to tell any difference in boost onset, or anything else yet.
I have noticed that the oil sure gets very dirty very fast with the inlet down so low to the pavement.

Its not the engine that is the problem. Its the wheels inside of the turbo that get chewed up with no air filter.

Have to bang out the rocks and bugs when cleaning my turbo filter. Your engine will not like unfiltered air and the turbo will probably outlast the motor..

particulate impinging turbo blades at 230,000 rpm does eat the inducer wheel....
The biggest concern for any industrial turbine is keeping the dirt out....
performance drop exponentially with deteriorated inducer wheels, and blades
Garret does not sell the cratridges individually either, it must be sent away to garret for rebiuld...one reason i am looking at turbonetics next time...
Turbonetics... superior warrantee, ceramic ball brgs, and superior spool up, do to inducer and exducer, and housing designs... also turbonetics has mutliple sized wheels for each housing, which allows for much more specific applications...and half the price, as well as servicable cartridges...
I would keep the filter myself....
Bike looks great BTW

i had a BMC FILTER crush down under boost in the stock air box .. maybe the K&N a better filter
