Just Wanted to introduce my self...

Hey everyone, I just started my account and I am an owner of a slightly modified blue/black ZX14. Sorry for not having pictures up yet..I will have those up soon for sure. Currently the bike has tinted turn signals and windscreen, Brocks exhaust and power commander,200 rear tire and is in the process of having the wheels powdercoated gold. This is my first bike and the only bike I have ever been on. it was purchased last summer with 600 miles on it..It is currently at 4300 and ticking like a bomb. Hope you guys out there can teach me a few things about my bike I dont know. Also, I have a few questions.

whats the best oil to use for our bikes, What weight and brand?

Is there a writeup anywhere on how to lower my bike? I am very good at automotive mechanics but never worked on a bike. Is this something I can do my self, or should I have someone do it who has done this on a bike before?

thank you for all ur answers and helping a noob out.

Dino

i have been doing just that...I had a close call at the end of last season with a female teenager taking a left turn out of the RIGHT lane while on the cell phone...i was able to dodge her with very little skill and a whole lot of luck.

Welcome..... don't lower yet. get some seat time and read the Shane 661 Build or Dubious
build as you will spend $$ and find out there were better parts to be had.

There are a lot of good oils, Mobil 1 etc.

And ZXBob just sold a Beautifull Turbo ZX-14.see Hawkmans red Turbo it was Black
and Bob's baby he built, He has forgotten more about Turbo's thna most think they know.

Best oil eh? Very controversial question. I don't know if there is a best but I would recommend a synthetic for dry start ups ,and smoother shifts, and durability, This is what I use and like exclusively in my bikes.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a wealth of info on here. Holy crapoly though, my man...the 14 is your first bike? Like Douglas said above, you need to be very careful, and really learn how to ride that bike. It takes just a few seconds be going faster than you realize and not know how to deal with it.

Use the factory oil for the first change or two, then switch to syn. I use Amsoil, but I may switch to the Rotella. Learn to ride your bike stock. On down the line, you can lower the front with the forks or straps, and you can get adjustable doggie bones for the back. Good luck, enjoy, and be careful.

Thanx a lot for the info guys..The first oil was changed at 500 miles, before I received the bike by the previous owner, I changed the oil my self at 2500 miles with Mobil as someone stated above and used a oem filter, I am currently right above 4000K and its probably time to change it again before the weather gets nice.

Smokehouse- Its not so much that I worry about my own riding as I do about other idiots on the road...I was almost hit twice by stupid people (females) on their phones....but I def. do stay very cautios on my bike and dont try anything stupid...I do love twisties though

Just want ya to be careful. Those corners can come up awfully fast on a 14... Yes, that's what Douglas meant, "ride like you're invisible", because you are invisible to so many of the idiots in cages out there. Be cautious, but enjoy it!
