Clems oil pan tube question

You guys that have the Clems modified pans, did you completely take off the breather hose in the pan or just cut it shorter than the modified pickup? I have cut mine back about 1 1/2" from the bottom of the pickup, but Shannon Clem said they remove it entirely? Thanks

Can someone explain the precise function of the tube...and why it is needed or not??

Does it allow for oil from the top end to drain back into the sump?

Thats what I was wondering, it has to do with upper end drain back. The only reason I cut mine was when you look up in the lower case the tube connects right above one of the shafts. I am thinking without the tube you might run into a oil roping issue with that shaft??? I know we use to do everything we could with our pro stock motors to keep all the oil off of the lower rotating parts, but that was car motors

As far a I know Shane its just a crank case breather, somewhat like you would find on a car using a pcv valve. but no valve in this case...it goes directly into the airbox. I ran into the issue of the tube actually sifoning the oil into the air box, due to oil volume. Then overnite that oil would run down and fill clynder #4...in turn hydrolocking the engine. I belive its purpose is incase theres too much oil added to the engine it can get dumped into the air filter box. Which in my case it did, the bike was smoking badly, oil dripping out of the bottom of the pipe, but then it sat overnite inturn the hydrolocking. Hope thats some help shane i know i was rambling a bit!
