Two summers ago a Bud and I spent a week doing 500 mile days in the Smokies. He was on a Busa, and I had a much easier time on the ZX. Was a Blast, and I was gonna make my ZX into a Hyper Tourer based on that experience. But then The Concours 14 came out and, well, now I have both so no need to clutter up the ZX with bags and such. However its a great bike with a couple of mods to do some distance on.

That sounds great! We lived for 15 years in Idylewild, but never been to Julian. My wife was there once... when she missed the turnoff towards Anza coming from San Diego, oops.

quote: Wow, you guys are some rock stars! I really want to do this. I am pretty excited. What are compression shorts, I am in my second round of twentys ;-) so they might help. The forcast is calling for a little rain.
compression garments are used in a lot of high impact sports. they are stretchy, breathable and designed to hold muscle in place to help prevent fatigue and injury. ones made for riding usually have a chamois seat to prevent heating and chaffing of the inner thighs and the area between sack and bunghole. they are usually marketed towards off-roading but are also great for sport riding/touring. bike bandit and other off-road suppliers carry them

quote: i would ride naked... but i'd be afraid i'd burn it off or get it hung in the chain . the limiting factor i definitely the seat. i was still able to go 240 miles or so between rests.
the first summer i lived in dallas i wasen't used to the heat so i would ride naked. i didn't have problems with the exhaust or chain but my ungodly foreskin would drag the ground and make alot of sparks. it got to be a bit of a hazzard because people were always pulling up next to me honking and yelling and pointing at the back of the bike. i guess they thought i has having mechanical problems or something. anyways i decided to start wearing a g-string which worked out better anyhow because when i got to work i was allready in uniform
