Low Fuel Light
Is there a light that will go on when the tank is near empty? (2008zx14)
I get the message that the tank is running low on fuel, but wondering if a warning light goes on after a while.
TIA

The warning you described is it, unless you reset it (holding reset button for short while) then a red warning light in the right side will come on.

I'm a little confused (nothing unusual for me) The light will come one before I run out of gas? Or, does it just indicate that I ran out of gas and the tank is completely empty?
TIA

I am so glad someone asked this question because it was bugging me too. I hate when the Fuel Low display starts flashing and you can't do anything else with the control panel. I am going to try the reset button trick..... conveniently I am out of gas again so I can try it right away.
Hey, when you reset it then does it STAY reset and the red light goes on in its place or does it revert back to the flashing display?

It reverts back to the flashing display.

pretty sure the red light stays on and it stops flashing till you turn off the ignition, then you have to reset again when you turn back on. I believe you have a gallon left when the low fuel light comes on

The info screen starts to flash low fuel along with the fuel pump symbol alternately. The manual reads that there is 1.1 gallons of fuel left at that point, but no light.
It also read that when pushing and holding the upper button. the screen will revert back to the previous screen and than the light will be lit. So I guess that if I had like the AVERAGE MPG screen displayed last than that screen would come back and the warning light would go on, alerting me that I still have a low fuel condition.
I have to try it the next time I run low on fuel and see if that works.
Thanks guys, I think I answered my own question.

The thing I hate about the reset is that you have to completely stop the bike to do it. Pushing the button while in motion does nothing.

It works on the 07 as well…. The red light that comes on is deep in the dash and the first time I did this (without reading the manual thought I had run out of oil).

I do not know about everyone else but just over a gallon of gas does not get me very far at all. better not be stuck out on the Florida Turnpike when that display starts flashing because there are times that you have to ride like 20 miles to the next exit.

It will go 20 miles no problem when light comes on, I've gone over 40 miles with a very light throttle hand!!!!

I hope I can get to a gas station within 1.1 Gal of fuel.
I don't have a lot of miles on mine yet, but the worst I've gotten is 33mpg, although the bike is strictly stock (for now).
