Just alittle something i lucked up on about zx14 wheel swap
Ok im working on a 07 zzr600. The customer has bent both front and back wheels. He has bought 2 sets of rims. First was a set of zx9 99 wheels which i found the axles are total different. To small to fit his bike and the 14. Next set 2k-2k3 zx6 front and rear or so i thought. The front wheel looks like the zzr wheel but was different. The front must have come off a zx6 or zx9 2k-2k3. Anyway i found that our front rotor fits perfect and using zx14 spacers fits perfectly on the 14. Axles are the same. Front calipers work with no problem. The wheels are lighter than the 14. I weighed the rear with tires and found a 6 pound difference. You can pick up the front and tell the zx6 or 9 wheel is lighter. I measured a zx12 rear wheel which everybody knows will fit on a 14. The zx6-9 will is the same width etc. Even the cush drives are the same. Spockets interchange also. From what i found you need the 12 spacers and rear caliper hanger. Im already ordering those. Other than those things it should work fine. Doesnt look as good as the stock 14 rims but lighter. I ll post pics as soon as i get the rear parts. This was just something i wanted to try since i had the wheels at my disposal. Hopefully it may help since some people want lighter wheels with out paying alot of money

masszx has gixxer (1000, I think) wheels on his 14. I don't know the weight of them but I bet he'll post here soon.

Gixxer wheels are not even close to a direct swap. The details and weight of those wheels are in my build thread.

I think 6. It makes it easier to swap. I think i might change them over when i race. I also found that the front spacers are the same size as the rear smaller rotor side one. Just short because their on the front. Biggest thing i found was the different spacer size and caliper holder.

Heres something else im going to try. Those rims use a smaller round rotor not the wave. On line the z1000 use a rear wave rotor with the zzr style rims. At least the 08 does. I need to find one to ck that. Its a thought. The wave rotors on ebay for the z1000 are alot cheaper used than the 14

any chance of pics of these wheels. What are the years for the zx9 that are the same as the 2000-2003 zx6? I have an adams arm, so i only need the rear 12 spacers right?
I have been waiting for some new oem options to pop up. thanks,
i still wonder about other newer zx6 and zx10 wheel fitment

How is this better than the 12 wheel? Is it a better looking wheel or lighter?

he said a 6 pound difference on the rear. the 12 wheel is only around 1.5 lighter from all i have read.
If the zx6-9 wheel is 6in wide, this will be great.

Ok, well, let me ask..
Did you use the same tire on each wheel? Because that would make the 9R wheel 13.5 lbs., which is lighter than many aftermarket wheels.
Tire weights can vary by several pounds.
I have weighed the 12R wheel at 1.5 lbs difference. I have a more accurate scale now and will weigh it again tomorrow. If it is that much lighter, I am surprised it wasn't the hot swap for the 12R....but maybe it will be.

The 07-09 zx6r front wheel (the same as 08-09 zx10r)
is a direct bolt on with the exact same brake rotor bolt pattern.
It's also the lightest Kawi oem front.
The gsx-r wheels swap can be seen in Shane's build thread.

GSXr wheel requires custom bearings and spacers, i would like something bolt up and go if possible. What about the zx10 rear?

when i weighed them both wheels filled. Bt002 race tire on 14rim and dunlap sportsman tire i think thats what its called on the other rim. The rims for sure are lighter than the 14. Both tires are 190/50 17 also. I'll let everyone no on the back when i get the spacers and holder. But it should work. I ll take some pics and post them. This was just another option i happened up on. I just wanted to see if i could me them work. I hope it helps with having another option on rims. I actually cant wait to ride it to see if i notice a difference.

I have two sets of zx9 wheels, supposedly 2K-2K3. the sprocket carrier is different on the rear. on the front, the rotor spacing looks like it will be too narrow. I checked the fische and i am pretty sure these wheels are 2k-2k3. I am getting discouraged with this. Are you sure of the wheels you have???

im pretty sure. On the front. Its not a 98-99 front because they use a smaller axle. The zzr600 05-08 front is different in the center and wont fit the zx rotors. I used the zx14 front rotor and spacers. I put one on my because i race. Use both front spacers with the front rim. On the rear the carrier is different. Thats why i use the one that comes on the rim. That carrier is the same as the zx12. So you can use the 530 sprockets. Remember you will need the zx12 spacers and rear brake hanger. Something else i noticed. The zzr uses the same bolt pattern rear rotor but the size is different. Its a 4.5 versus the zx12 5.5. Use the 5.5 rear rotor. Hope it helps
