I finally broke into the 9's last night !!

Last night was a good track night. Traction was abundant, and the air was OK but not great. There was a slight headwind and the humidity was getting high as the night went on.

I got super lucky last night because on Fridays, the place is typically mobbed but because there was rain about 10 miles away in 3 directions (north, south and east) the place had a very light crowd. I got in 11-12 passes.

I FINALLY BROKE INTO THE 9's !!!!!

My best pass was like this.

R/T .119
60' 1.72
330' 4.39
1/8 mile 6.53 @ 115.5
1000' 8.38
1/4 mile 9.94 @ 143.86

The staff at the track were really cool. The didn't threaten to kick me off for not having an NHRA license.

I did have problems with wheelies again of course. I haven't changed anything mechanically on the bike since the last time I went racing so I suppose that was expected. I did a 10.10 pass where I was on 1 wheel in second gear for what felt like forever. I mean the entire duration of second gear, full throttle. That was fun.

I only managed to click off 1 9 second pass the whole night, but at least my last run was a 10.00 flat.

Nice work, Beondwacko.

Damn, you're not exactly a featherweight either, are you? Unless I have you confused with some other guy, you were 180 - 190 lbs?

.......there's no reason I shouldn't get myself down to the Union Grove Dragway this summer.

Good racing. What mods do you have, again?

Great run, we are about 5Lbs. apart wth identical runs. How do you like the 16-T sprocket??? does it help or hurt your times compared to stock

I have never ran the bike with the stock 17t sprocket , so I can't give you an answear to that question. How do I like it? Well, that's a loaded question I suppose.

With the wheelbase at stock length, the flies pulled ect', I can only use maybe 40% throttle in first gear and manage to keep the front end down in first gear. Slam second gear hard and it will loft the front wheel in ALL of second gear as well. I think that I might, just might be able to pull a better ET with the stock gearing. It may allow me to use more throttle and keep the front end down a bit more.

with stock pipes, lowered, strapped, and no flies, I picked up 5-6mph, and damn near 2 tenths of a second with the 16t front sprocket. Now that I put the pipe on it I may end up with stock gearing again to keep the front wheel down a little lol. I want to try 17/40 but my wife will kick my ass if i buy anything else.

I went on a couple rides with 2 members of the ninja.com site last year and it was cool to hang out with people who posted on the same forum. Only problem is when the site died, none of us knew how to contact one another anymore. I never kept any phone #s but maybe one of them still has mine

I'll get a hold of ya, Stu. I think I could use some moral support first time on a drag strip.

And if anyone is interested in going to the old "Moroso" park, now Palm Beach International Raceway, I'd hope that they would look me up before hand too.
