MIne holds just over 4 1/2 quarts with new filter? I just looked at the ZX-14 shop book
on line and it too states 4.8 with new empty oil filter. And my sight glass is ai 1/2 to 3/4 up
from lower line to top line, Mine uses about 4 ounces of oil in 1000 miles of my Hard street riding, But my 07 only has 4K on it.

That's where I lose all my oil as well, out the cover seals... Need to work on it.

I did and since i fixed my leaking cam cover the motor is dry and clean as can be.
I drove up to houston a spent $155.00! on 6 quarts (bought one extra) of Royal Purple 20 50, a new K&N oil filter and a new factory air filter. The original factory air filter had 9000+ miles on it and looked like hell but did not let anything through. The air box looked good, i saw no oil in it. The overflow res for the oil was empty to. I will keep careful track on how much oil it uses over the next 1000 miles. That wont take long....
6 quarts (bought one extra) ???? I only put 4 Qts in my zx14 ...Are you putting in 5 QTs ???
No im putting in about 4.3 QTs with new oil filter as stated in my owners manual, that puts it close to full on the oil window. The exrta 1.7 QTS is just for future use, Its hard to find this stuff where im at so I bought all they had. And I rode it 400 miles this weekend with no measurable oil use so my hopes are high.
