+ 1 if you have a 06/07 purchase the the 08 metal air filter lid. My 07 was plastic
and they tend to warp and leak.

Majority seems to favor BMC. I have BMC race filter and have yet to try it. Be aware that it is extremely thin and some people are not comfortable running on the street 100% of the time. Then again, Ive heard of no problems resulting from inadequate filteration of a race filter. It's a cheap mod. Cost to hp is good. $80 for 2hp. Thing is, 2 hp isn't much and a high performance street filter will do almost as good while giving a little more peace of mind.

I've been running the BMC race filter for a while now on the street. I think it's too much flow at low rpms, but I still run it.

I run a BMC race filter. As mentioned order the aluminum cover for an 08 or 09 for the 06 and 07 bikes. My plastic one didn't warp but I replace it preventatively,

There is a plastic x bracket that runs behind the filter to the frame. So it looks like a box with an x in the middle. It's ok quality. Seals well though cause it's hard to get out, and my airbox is real clean on the inside. I clean it every time I change my oil. Sometimes more often.

Good tip to inspect airbox. Thanks.

I rode into a parking lot today only to discover a big dusty construction site. I'm glad I didn't have the race filter in there yet. Anyone have any concerns about extreme conditions like that while using a race filter?
