Problems with my Pitbull Stand
I have a new front handle rear stand and I am having a bitch of a time trying to set it for my bike. Do I have to remove the stock cans before this thing will work, or what? Please, can someone give me a quick run-down on how I get it to work properly... instructions are not available to me.

Never tried it. Now that you mention it, I can see how it might be a problem with 4-2-1-2. Single pipe would be on the opposite side of the handle, wouldn't it?
Damn, I think you might have found your excuse to go 4-2-1.
If you need to return the Pitbull, I can recomend the Heindl pivot stand. I have stockers and my pivot stand clears everything. Also relatively easy and very safe to lift for one guy. Comes in two pieces that must be thumbscrewed together tight - and I mean tight - use two hands when twisting them down. Pins on the pivot stand insert inti swingarm pivot holes so it will not ever get knocked over.

I can't remember if I got my forward handle pit bull before I put the full system on or not. But I used it on 3 bikes, and swear by that stand. No balancing act like putting the bike on regular rear stands, and no crap behind the bike like the others.
If you have the stand adjusted perfectly to match the bike spools, I'm thinking there really shouldn't be any exhaust issues or the pit bull shouldn't hit?

It works fine with the stock pipes, assuming you are using spools on the swingarm.
I'm not sure what part is "not working" but ............
1) Set the width of the v-blocks on the stand to match the distance between the middle of the spools.
2) Set the height of the v-blocks as low as possible.
3) Place the stand under the middle of the bike in front of the rear wheel with the handle on the left (chain) side of the bike, line up the v's in the spools (handle will be pointed upward towards the front of the bike) and push down until the handle hits the floor.
IMPORTANT: The side stand must be in the "UP" position or it will get in the way.
I would recommend that a second person be on the other side of the bike the first time in case something goes wrong!

I noticed you have the small dia. spools. Did they come with the stand? I have a Pit Bull that came with my 07 and it has spools a lot bigger that I don't like. Texas tag... I live in the DFW area.

Lucky have you taken the rear wheel off the bike on that stand?
I keep thinking mine may be in the way (and use a different stand), but am about ready to take the leap.....

I used my forward facing pit bull with the stock cans no problem...with the spools on the swingarm. Lucky's set up is how i did mine.

The spools (and the stand) came from Moto Liberty in Dallas.

I have had the wheel loose to do the 16 tooth CS sprocket, but not all the way off.
Are you thinking that the cross-support might be too close to the bottom of the tire? If so, the V supports on the stand could be raised - but that requires more "muscle" to lift the bike.

Lucky...thanks I live in Fort Worth. My spools are way too big
as it is unsteady on the stand. My Pit Bull has the handle faceing rearward..
But the braces look alike that catch the spools. Damn it's Monday all the local shops are closed.Looking for a new front stand... It's 70 today . :-) it's been 40 and rain for days. Screw it, go for a ride.

Thank you all for your help. Lucky, those pictures are going to be very helpful, thank you. I feel like such an imbecile because I was working on this for a long time while my friend held the bike, and I just could not figure it out. The handle was so close to the fairing I was a little freaked it might scratch, and it was hard to see where the spools would attach with the exhaust in the way. Then when I FINALLY got them to connect I pushed down on the pitbull arm and it felt like I was trying to lift a ton of bricks. I gave up and went swimming!
Edit: If I am lifting this myself do I need to make the bike vertical to get the rear tire off the ground, and should I be breaking my back to lift it because it is so heavy, or should it lift fairly easy when I have it set properly? Thanks again!

This is the easiest to use rear stand I've owned,
and despite the fact that many have said it's still not
a one man operation to get the bike up- I never had any issues
doing it myself. I have the height adjustably links all the way up and
it does take a bit more push down on the handle to raise up, but
nothing extreme by any means.
The only thing I noticed at first was that the stock side stand is a bit too
long and gets in the way of the handle if not raised, but a billet side stand
took care of that.
I wouldn't recommend any other rear stand.
Better quality and finish than any other brand too IMHO

I find lifting the front almost effortless
with both a Pit bull and my old T-Rex.

IMPORTANT QUESTION THERE^^
I have never used a spool stand but I would assume that you definitely do need to hold the bike verticle and get the hooks set properly under each spool before you lift. Practice it with a buddy to spot the bike a good number of times. I would think that once you have down pressure on the handle, the bike will stand by itself with both wheels on the ground. Then you can put your weight on it and up she goes, click, locked in place.
Do 3 lifts then go swimming and come back and do a few more. Once you get the hang of it, I bet it wont be any big deal as long as you are careful every time you do it.

Thanks Rook. I think a lot of it is simple paranoia because I do not want to do anything that could possibly jeopardize my bike, but I look forward to giving it another try.

I know exactly how you feel, bro. I never put a bike up on a stand in my life and doing it the first 15 times was a little scarey. It's hard to be careful when you're not exactly sure what to watch for. Just take the process a little at a time and you'll get the hang of it.
I actually had my gas tank and all fairings off when I did my first lifts and that allowed me to ease into using the stand.
