what size wheels chock

I was looking on ebay and was gonna order some wheels chocks to go in a trailer, and noticed there is 3 different sizes. A 3.5", 4.5", and 5.5". What size you guys got? I am not at home to measure the width of the front tire. Info is appreciated!!! (I know a condor or one like it would be better, but can't afford one and a new trailor) so I'm going with the $20 deals

The Pingel I use measures 6.5 inches inside, and about 8.5 outside.

Note that it comes to a "point" at the front, so it will center and hold the tire, even if it is "too wide."

Model WC650: http://www.pingelonline.com/wheel_chock_removable.htm

The tire is roughly 4.5 and to the outside of the disks is about 5.5.
Depending on design, the chock may have to be wide enough to clear the disks also.

I just read this from the link I sent you. Pingel says it a lot better than I did.

"The WC650 wheel chock is recommended for use with all tire sizes up to 6½” wide. This allows the use of the same wheel chock for your dirtbike, sportbike, cruiser, touring bike, custom or drag bike. This design features increased rotor clearance for motorcycles that are equipped with large diameter rotors such as new sportbikes. A common misconception about wheel chocks is that the sides of the chock hold the bike in place when it is actually the front triple radius bend that does the job. With tie-downs pulling the bike’s front tire forward into the wheel chock, it is physically impossible for the bike to slip."

I didn't like the pingel.
My tralier came with the 5.5 ... guess they thought everyone rides Hardleys.
My wheel would turn and the rim / bead edge rubbed the metal brace in the hoop and made my rim look like shit... looked like it was curbed... pissed me right off.
I ended up slipping a 1x4 " wood on either side of the wheel when it was in the chock so the wheel couldn't turn

I guess the 6,5 fixes that by being wider, or is a newer design.
I have used the Pingel for 2 different 14's, a SV650, a 650R, and a Ninja 250.
Nothing rubbed, nothing fell off the trailer.

Yea but I need 2, and I'm not spending $500 right now. That's why I'm putting the small $20 chocks in there for now. When I get some extra money that will be my next investment. One thing at a time.

The problem I had with the pingels was they were too wide.
If I was at home I would take a pic and measure it for ya, but I am away at work.

Check Harbor Freight. For trailer use they have a bolt in cock that works great, and last I saw it was on sale for less than 30 bux. I trailer extensively, two trailers, one is a 4 bike setup and the other is a two bike. I have these in stalled in both. One creveat is dont try trailering with just a chock, tie it down front and rear also. Saying this because I have seen it done several times with the bike down in the trailer. Also the easieat way to tie down the front on a bike with a stem hole is with a T bar that plugs in the top. It will keep the straps away from paint, and also will not put pressure on the bars. Hf also sells a chock similar to the Condor. I use one of these in my shop, and just changed the engine in a Valkyrie on one.

I have a canyon dancer strap that I use to tie it down with on other trailers, it works fine except it pulls the grips to the inside and you have to fool with it to get it back down before you give it any gas, bc then the gas will stick

Found some on ebay for $10 ea in tallahasse fl. I'm only a good hour from there so I'm gonna go pick em up wed. Shit, they even come with the mounting hardware. At schnitz the mounting hardware is more than that.. They are 5.5" wide. Which some of you guys said the 6.5" was a little too much, right?
Then I will see about ordering a condor in a month or so.

No, not if you believe what I posted ealier rom Pingel's site:

"A common misconception about wheel chocks is that the sides of the chock hold the bike in place when it is actually the front triple radius bend that does the job."

Sounds like you found a "deal." Just make sure the chock clears the rotors.
