Compton, what is the advantage to getting them cut vs. internal lowering blocks?

You can't slide the forks through the triple clamps that much, the front fender will hit the underside of the fairing when the suspension bottoms out.
Either have the fork internals modified or use a combination of lowering through the clamps and strapping. You will need to lower the rear too or the steering will be affected
Don't forget the sump plug will be more likely to impact the ground with it lowered, especially for street use or if you come down hard after a wheelie.

Ive always been told what you do to the back you need to do to the front to compensate. And i wouldnt ride on the street with a strap, thats just askin for problems.

I agree. I lowered my forks through the clamps by just 1 cm and run everything else normal on the street. At the track I strap the front some more and lower the rear by 3 inches.

The most I managed to lower the forks was 1", I also lowered the rear by1".

The frt is limited by the fender clearance. Some have found lowering them more than that makes the oil pan susceptible too..

You can lower the rear more, and reduce wheelies much more in doing so, but the bike will not handle as nice unless each end is lowered equally , allowing the geometry and steering characteristics the engineers chose.

I think the little oriental men in white lab coats are more intelligent than I for the most part.
I stuck with their geometry.

FWIW... I tried -3 rear, -1 in front and it handled like a chopper.

i'm on the 2nd hole on my muzzy links, and minus 1" in the front. i've hit my drain plug a couple of times as can be told by the fact that it's ground way down lol. that was when i wasn't used to it being lowered though. my bike still handles good enough to hit the canyons at a brisk pace. i just have to be careful not to grind my fairings off.

internally, basically the same. just takes the guess work out of how much to lower. Some even mill down the tube itself so its shorter.
